If you ask me which includes to the premier tourist destinations in the Philippines, one of the first places that could pop into my mind would probably be BORACAY.

Boracay Island is a tropical paradise in the province of Aklan. Internationally known not just for its fine, white sand beaches, Boracay is somewhat a destination you would not want to miss when you visited the Philippines. I’ve been to this Island so many times, but still the feels and vibe in the island wouldn’t stop me on coming back. A trip to Boracay Island would require you to make multiple transfers from plane to the sea. And because of the small airport in Caticlan, flights are limited to local aircrafts and no direct flights can be booked specially if you are coming from outside the country.

Our Air Asia trip lasted for less than an hour. From Kalibo, Aklan, we hit the road for two hours going to Caticlan Pier. From the boat transfer, it will be 10 to 15 minutes ride towards our hotel.

And to make your choice among the best barkada-friendly places, isn’t it wonderful to have the Internet? Nowadays, you can even search for a weekend getaway on your smartphone.

What does a smartphone search of possible barkada summer getaways show us? Well, there are both new and familiar places we can find:

For the longest time, Boracay has been THE summer destination for many of us, especially during the 1990s when it was fast-gaining popularity. And with good reason. The fine, powdery white sand, the overall chill-out vibe, the sunsets—they all seemed like a summer dream come true.
