London Travel Guide: Must-See Sights, Hidden Treasures, and Local Experiences

London’s calling, but due to the sheer size and variety it can offer the average traveler, that calling can seem like a faint whisper. With so many attractions to see and things to get up to, it can be pretty overwhelming to create some sort of itinerary that caters to everyone in your group and that is appealing enough that you come away thinking that you haven’t just spent a boatload of cash on a trip that nobody actually enjoyed! Luckily for you, this post is here to save the day and offer you a few options to note down that should sate even the most attraction-hungry visitor and ensure a great time is had by all.

Eat, Eat, And Eat Some More!

Yes, we all know the joke about British food being as appetizing as a piece of cardboard, but when you arrive in a city as large and cosmopolitan as London, you will be delightfully surprised at what’s on offer. From checking out that hip new Seafood Restaurant in London Bridge to trying some Ethiopian street food…you will really have the entire world on your plate. While you will certainly need to ensure a healthy budget for your culinary experiences (it is London, after all), the amount of variety and freshness of offer is simply unmatched by any other city outside of New York, Tokyo, Paris, and well, OK so there are lots of other places that have excellent cuisine, but the point is to avoid underestimating London thanks to the general perception of dour British food!

Experience The Vibrant Camden Market

Camden Market has a cache that few other places have, and its historical significance to the city of London (not to be confused with the City of London) is such that aside from the fantastic items on offer, you will have a historical location to explore with all of its peculiarities and interests. It has an intense energy that you will feel as you pursue through the worked and achy items on sale, and of course, there are plenty of places to stop, eat, and regain your energy to get back out there and go shopping once more. Just make sure you’re prepared to observe time slip through your fingers, as it’s easy to spend an entire day in this one location alone,

Delve Into History At Westminster Abbey

If you want to discuss history, Westminster Abby is history on steroids. In fact, it’s so old, and perhaps one can even use the term “ancient,” that it was used to coronate none other than William the Conqueror, who invaded and made England his domain in 1066. It has been used to coronate every king and queen since that fateful date that changed the entire milieu of these isles over one thousand years ago.

Straddle The Meridian In Greenwich

Although the term has changed from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to UTC, the fact remains that the Prime Meridian of planet Earth runs directly through Greenwich. It is now based at the Royal Observatory, which, aside from that exciting tidbit, is a fainting look into the world when Britania ruled the seas and developed a raft of technologies and implements to help navigation, many of which are still used today (albeit in modern form).

London is a brilliant place to visit, whether as part of a romantic city break or as part of a nationwide family holiday. If you want to get the most out of it, you will need to make plenty of time to get around and enjoy everything on offer.
