In a thrilling conclusion to the captivating performance of “Walang Aray” on a Sunday evening, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) left the audience in awe with a surprise act by Ben&Ben, unveiling their highly-anticipated production, “One More Chance the Musical.” This remarkable adaptation of Star Cinema’s beloved classic promises to be an electrifying experience, set to the melodious tunes of the renowned nine-piece Filipino sensation.
The atmosphere was electric as the lead cast members of “Walang Aray,” Gio Gahol and Marynor Madamesila, who portray the unforgettable lovers Tenyong and Julia, took the stage to reenact a poignant scene from the film as Popoy and Basha. The iconic lines, “She had me at my worst. You had me at my best,” offered a tantalizing hint at PETA’s next cinematic endeavor.
The surprise continued to escalate as the curtains drew back, revealing the captivating Ben&Ben band. The audience erupted into a frenzy, joining in on the mesmerizing performance and singing along to the band’s chart-toppers like “Kathang Isip” and “Araw-Araw,” anthems that have struck a chord with an entire generation.
Despite their youthful vigor, Ben&Ben has achieved a level of cultural resonance that has etched their name into the annals of contemporary Philippine music history. For three consecutive years, they have reigned as the most-streamed OPM Artist and Group in the Philippines, achieving the unprecedented feat of exceeding one billion streams.
“One More Chance the Musical” marks yet another milestone in PETA’s successful line-up of jukebox musicals, following the incredible success of “Rak of Aegis,” a seven-season phenomenon, and the critically acclaimed rap musical “Three Stars and a Sun,” featuring the timeless tunes of Francis Magalona.
Prepare to be swept away as “One More Chance the Musical” graces the stage in April 2024 at the PETA Theater Center, promising an unforgettable journey through the ups and downs of love and life.
