4 Fun Ideas for Couples Post-LDR

People who are in long-distance relationships or LDR know the different challenges it entails. They won’t be able to see each other in person or create that physical bond most couples who are physically together can easily do. While spending time apart from your partner can make your anticipated reunions more exciting, the lack of physical contact may feel like the level of intimacy is not the same as it was before you were physically separated.

When a couple is used to having sexual contact with each other and is apart for a long time, the change can take some of the sparks away from the relationship. Fortunately, there are different ways you can reignite your passions for each other. Here are some fun ideas you can do inside and outside the bedroom to make your reunions more memorable.

Incorporate Toys in Your Bedroom Activities

Many couples experience developing heightened desire for each other when they are apart, which makes having physical and sexual contact more exciting once reunited. At times, the excitement can build into the pressure of performing well in bed. This can happen to men and women alike. Men may experience erectile dysfunction while women can have vaginal dryness because of stress.

To help remove that pressure, you can ease into your usual bedroom activities using the same long distance sex toys you used while apart. You can use these toys during foreplay to help each other relax or to show your partner what feels good to you, which can ease some of the stress. These types of toys can be controlled by your partner using an app downloaded to a phone so they can continue to be used to enhance your intimate sessions, even if you’re physically together.

Try New Positions

Another way to add excitement to your reunions is to try new sexual positions. You can start with spicing up your usual missionary position with something kinky. Lay your partner down with their arms above their head. Then, limit their hand movements by holding their wrists. Depending on what you’re both comfortable with, you can use handcuffs or scarves to tie their wrist together. Since they won’t be able to use their hands to reciprocate, it’s up to you to make them feel amazing through your touch. It is also a good opportunity to explore your partner’s body and rediscover their pleasure spots.

If you want to feel intensely connected to your partner during sex, you can try the seated lotus. To get into this position, ask your partner to sit up and loosely cross their legs. Then, sit on top of them and wrap your legs around your partner’s back. This position allows you to look into your partner’s eyes and give them tender kisses on the lips or neck. Also, you can use this chance to tell your partner what you love and miss the most about them—enhancing intimacy and bond with each other.

Engage in Non-Sexual Bonding

While many LDR couples feel very excited to be physically reunited, sex is not the only way to show how much they miss each other. There are different non-sexual activities they can engage in that are fun and can strengthen their relationships. You can celebrate the reunion by having candle-lit dinners at home or in your favorite restaurant. It’s a great way to improve intimacy as you bond over a delicious meal. It will also allow you to catch up and do other activities you couldn’t enjoy together while you were apart.

Now that you have reunited, you might also want to use the chance to become more involved with each other’s interests. Introduce your favorite hobby or activity to your partner or participate in theirs, even if it means trying something new at least once. By showing you want to understand each other’s enjoyment can help bring you closer. You might discover a new collective interest and have fun together.

Go On Vacation

Another way to have a shared experience as a couple is by going on a vacation together. It is also a fun and exciting way to celebrate your reunion. Whether you are going on a quick weekend getaway or a month-long trip, traveling as a couple can deepen your relationship. It forces you to work together on planning the itinerary and booking travel arrangements. Also, experiencing unforeseen circumstances can require teamwork to overcome, like losing baggage and running late for your flights. Once you get through such challenges, your trust and bond become stronger.

Additionally, traveling allows you to get to know each other better. Going on a trip together exposes you to each other’s unique quirks you might not be aware of. You learn your partner’s behavior when traveling like their packing techniques and hotel habits. These traits can tell you a lot about their character and be the things that make you appreciate your partner more.

Long-distance relationships can be challenging for couples because of the period spent apart. But they can make being together feel all the more exciting. Many couples look forward to spending time together and being physical again. While sex promotes intimacy, there are also other non-sexual activities you can also enjoy as a couple as mentioned above. Feel free to try out different things and use the time together to learn each other’s unique personalities. They won’t just make reunions sweeter, but also strengthen your bond with your partner.
