As most of the freelancers are asking a lot of questions about the newly imposed taxation to freelancers and YouTubers, a lot has been looking for avenues to discuss the rulings online. Thanks to Rod Magaru, who tweeted about the invitation for everyone to join a very important town hall meeting that will benefit freelancers in the current tax rulings issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). Entitled “Understanding Taxation for Creative Freelancers: A Creative Town Hall” the town hall will be this September 7, 2021, with a zoom link attached to it.
This month, Rod Magaru has been sharing IG stories about the importance of knowing the regulations first before jumping to conclusions and encourage fellow content creators to understand the clause of that memorandum. He is also asking the Bureau to help freelancers in settling their dues.
In a similar statement released last month by the Creator and Influencer Council of the Philippines (CICP), they were hoping for a dialogue with BIR and for them to make it easier for influencers to settle their dues. They are also hoping that the agency will recognize that the organization, as well as the vast community of Influencers, conduct business digitally.
The town hall meeting is part of an ongoing effort by the Arts and Culture and Creative Industries Bloc of the 18th Congress to allow the creative sectors, especially the creative freelancers, wide participation in learning and understanding taxation from the Bureau of Internal Revenues.
This is not the first time that Rod Magaru cited for using his platform smartly. Some of the netizens on Twitter are including him about people who really do some good things with the clout they have.
if you need some good vibes amidst these GOD AWFUL “”INFLUENCERS,”” let’s create a thread of people who are really doing some good things with the clout they have: @gigiesguerra, @kakiep83, @mimiyuuuh, @rodmagaru!!
