7 Computer Games in the ’90s that never gets Old

As a kid in the ‘90s, I grow up playing popular video games like Super Mario World, Pacman, Mortal Combat, Pinball, Galaga, and such. It was the era where Family Computers have been a dream by most families. For much cheaper devices there are handheld electronic games like Games & Watch, Game Boy, and Brick Games. I remember myself, lining up with friends just to be able to borrow my other friends’ Brick Games or those moments where I keep on bugging mom to give me a Game & Watch for my birthday. I even go out of school during breaks to spend a little money purchasing coins for the arcade. It was a fun experience growing in that era.

And just as the years go by, technology becomes much better, so as the different games. Nowadays, just having a smartphone opens up access to hundreds of mobile games. With different concepts, varieties, and even ways of playing. It became more interactive and some even have intense design and graphics. But even though it becomes better than before, we cannot ignore the fact that most of the games we play today were inspired by the old games we played when we were kids.

Recently, I bumped into this website that makes me reminisce about some of the old games I played before. The website is free to access with different online games with most of which were rooted in the games I played when I was a kid.

Let’s do a rundown of some of the favorite games I discovered here at Plays.org

Pipe Mania

pipe-mania-game

I super enjoyed puzzle games and one of the best games I played before was Pipe Mania. This is a simple logic puzzle game where players needs to connect pipes to help the water flow to the correct location. The key in playing this is quick thinking and fast hand reflex.

Neon Invaders

Funky spaceships and aliens in neon! This game reminds me of the old Galatian Games which have a simple goal to eliminate all the Aliens at front. Each level has a different pattern of movements, making each level more fun and exciting. Keep an eye on the fast-moving spaceship at the top, hitting it can give you bigger points.

Pac Rat

If you’ve been a super fan of Pac Man, you will definitely enjoy this fun and a quick game called Pac Rat. Same as the old school arcade game, the goal is to eat all the pellets without being caught by the cats. But once you were able to take in some of the super pellets scattered on the board, the cat should be the one to take precautions. Pac Rat is an exciting game to play just remember to turn the audio on to listen to the cute sounds created by the cute little mice.

Space Adventure Pinball Game

Another fun game to play that would make you jump on your seat is the Space Adventure Pinball Game. The old Pinball game always excites me as a kid and playing the Space Adventure Pinball still gives me that same feels. Pinball has a very simple goal of gaining the most points without letting the ball fall out of the game. Like most pinball games, each game comes with 3 balls. You can unlock extra balls and multi-ball play to extend your game and rack up higher scores. Unfortunately, after playing so many times I haven’t unleashed the multi-ball play yet. My arrow button (use as left and right flippers) has been notoriously beaten up by my fingers whenever I’m playing pinball. Maybe next round I’ll finally get it!

Tank Wars Base Defense Game

Battle City has been one of my favorite games when I was a kid. It was exciting, fun, and very strategic. I like to play it in two-player mode cause it levels up the team’s strategy. Tank Wars Base Defense Game is somehow the same with just a little improvement in the environment and design, but all in all, playing it is somehow gives me that reminiscing feel of Battle City.

Super Tetris

When we talk about timeless, Tetris game would definitely be one of them. This classic game has a simple goal of creating a complete line to earn points. Super Tetris is not timed but ends when pieces get to the top of the screen. This one is mobile-friendly as well so you can play it on the go. If you love a puzzle game that

Duck Shooter

This is a very straightforward game of simply shooting all the flying ducks. Your enemy here is time and precision. Duck Shooter makes me remember the old Nintendo game called Duck Hunt. They both have the same concept, I just missed the dog picking all the ducks caught. The strategy here is to lead ducks slightly with your shot, with a larger lead on ducks moving faster. The more ducks you shoot the bigger your score could get.

Some games that we featured here are mobile-friendly while others are best to play via desktop.

There are tons of amazing games available now online and I hope bumping into this article could at least make you smile and entertain you while most of us are stuck at home during the quarantine.
