Stylishly made realme BUDS Q designed by a renowned Hermes designer

Adding up a new breed of stylishly made products from realme Philippines comes with a new audio device you would want to own – the realme Buds Q. At an affordable price of Php1,490, the realme Buds Q offers a very chic design, long playback hours, and audio quality comparable to a much pricier audio device.

But is it really something you would want to get? Continue reading and will tell you more about it.

The realme Buds Q comes with the usual yellow box. Inside, you’ll get the Q buds itself along with the case, 2 additional pairs of ear tips, a micro USB cable, and some documentation.

What I got is realme Buds Q in black. I saw in other countries that they will be releasing a yellow and white version, which I hope could arrive as well here soon in the Philippines.

The cobble-like design case got a really nice grip, is very light and pocketable. Realme Q Buds was designed by a renowned designer of Hermes – Jose Levy. Levy took inspiration from the round cobblestones found along the shores of Normandy beach where he spent most of his youth.

At around 35 g total weight, I can easily slip the Q buds in my pocket. The case opens quite easily and can even be done just by using one hand. It has a magnet opening giving that snap sound whenever you close it. Inside the case, you’ll find the buds that snug perfectly on the case. It is also attached via magnet hence even if you turn it open upside down, the buds will not fall out.

Taking it out of the case, I really find the bud too light and small. As to what I’ve read, the realme Buds Q weighs only 3.6g and is lighter than a sheet of A4 paper. Made me question actually its durability. What if It suddenly fall and I unknowingly step on to it, can it withstand my weight?

Nevertheless, having this paperweight buds can make you really feel like you are not wearing one.

Snugging it to my ear, I felt a little discomfort that it might fall out of place especially if I moved or do a run or exercise. The feeling is kind of tricky especially if I’ll be doing a run outside that it might suddenly fall. Though I did try shaking my head for a few times and luckily the buds snug perfectly in place.  The two extra ear tips can be used if you felt that the regular size doesn’t suit you.

Using it for a long time while I was working didn’t really give me any problem especially in terms of comfort. The realme Buds Q also features IPX4 water resistance to prevent sweat and rain from damaging the device.

Now let’s talk about the sound quality. I am not a sound expert but will just talk about it by experience. The realme Buds Q features a 10mm large dynamic bass-boost driver optimized with a premium PEEK&PU special polymer composite diaphragm. That was a bit technical but, it just means that having that large driver can five a really powerful bass and clearer vocals in mid and high range frequencies. Using both buds would really feel like the music is surrounding you.

I tried while listening to some music via Spotify and it gives me that powerful, deep satisfying sound. Felt like I’m in a live concert. Watching movies via Netflix also gives me that clear and crisp dialogues.

Using the realme Buds Q for calls got a little bit of a downside. Especially that the microphone is a bit far from my mouth, some of the things I usually say isn’t too clear on the other side. Like you really need to speak like you are talking to someone personally to be able to make your voice clearer on the receiving end.

Another good thing I learned about this unit is its lag-free audio experience, especially during game time. Having that kind of real-time transmission can really make you in the zone when playing your favorite mobile games. The Buds Q’s Super Low Latency Gaming Mode is made possible by its R1Q chip, which supports dual-channel real-time transmission. This also allows the two buds to stay connected to the phone independently as well.

At its full, the realme Buds Q can last up to 20 hours of total playback, 3 hours of single continuous calling time, 4.5 hours of single continuous music listening time, 5 hours of single continuous gaming time, and 6 hours of single continuous video watching time.

Lastly, Bluetooth connectivity to my units both android and IOS phones was a breeze most especially when paired with my new realme 7 unit. Instant Connection with Bluetooth 5.0 Users happens right from the time I open the case and take it out. Here are some actions one should take note when using it:

  • Double-tap: Play/pause music playback | Answer a call
  • Triple-tap: Go to next song
  • Press and hold one side: End call
  • Press and hold both sides: Enter/Exit Gaming Mode

Though I not really a fan of the color black when it comes to gadgets, this realme Buds Q just got that sophistication I want to carry whenever I would go. But due to its color, I’m a bit afraid of using it during nighttime especially when I am outside, I hope they would release the other colors in yellow and white soon. But overall, at the price of Php1,490, you can already say that you’re getting more than what you paid for.
