realme 6i: Enjoyment for Longer Hours

Look at this gorgeous phone. Yep, it is the newest from the realme 6 series, the entry-level realme 6i. It is a pretty sizable device coming in at 6.5-inches with a massive battery but still feels comfortable at hand.

As to what I’ve read, realme 6i’s gorgeous back is a work of Japanese Industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa, most known for his contributions to Muji items. Actually the design reminds me of a luggage suitcase, while some felt like it looks like a Rimowa brand

Priced at Php 7,990 for 3Gb/64 GB version and Php 9,990 for the 4Gb/128 option, the Realme 6i got a 48MP Quad-Camera setup, better body form, a 5000mAh battery with an 18W Quick Charge.

I actually love how posh this phone is most especially when exposing to light, where the shining “striped” design is most visible. The Realme 6i now comes in 3 color option – White Milk, Green Tea, and the new Blue Soda, which I have. If they’ve only released a yellow option I could have picked that instead, it could have been a perfect match with my existing luggage.

Aside from the quad-camera at the back, it also got an LED flash and a capacitive fingerprint scanner. At the front, the 16mp selfie camera is located in the middle, volume rocker on the left side beside the triple card tray with a dedicated microSD slot. On the right side, the power button can be located. At the lower part of the unit, the headphone jack, microphone, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker is located.

The realme 6i got a huge 6.5-inch IPS display which could have been a good size for movie viewing if only it got a better resolution. With 1600 x 720 resolution, it isn’t really that bad but could have been better. For regular use, text and images are actually decently crisps and vibrant. Using it outdoors would also be fine especially when set to 100% brightness.

Playing music is just okay especially if you do it indoors and placed closer to you.  Using earphones with this unit is recommendable especially that the audio quality from the single downward-firing speaker wouldn’t really suffice especially when used on a noisy environment.

One of the things that I always look forward to in a phone is its camera performance. Realme 6i comes with four rear camera sporting 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. I was happy with the photo quality this unit can create. It was pretty decent especially under good lighting conditions. Camera can be switch to ultra-wide, 1x, 2x, and 5x. Check the image below.

Portrait shot got a good subject-background separation and perfect during daytime shooting. I think this one is better compare to the previous phone releases of realme at this price range. Testing the 16MP front camera makes me look 10 years younger especially when beauty mode is adjusted. Though I am not really a fan of it, a lot would really be happy with this feature. Check out the photo difference I took using it with and without.

The low light situation isn’t a strong point when it comes to Realme 6i. Shots become a bit noisy but ticking the night mode does give a little help to solve this situation. Here are some sample shots were taken using the realme 6i:

realme 6i have a stabilization added on to it and can shoot 1080p at 30FPS, but still, it couldn’t be compared to the much higher phones and/or cameras. At its price range, Realme 6i is surely an excellent phone to purchase when it comes to camera capabilities.

Going around the unit was pretty easy and adaptable. Being a user of a Realme XT, I have been used to how the unit looks and works. Realme 6i runs on Realme UI based on Android 10. When I first opened the unit, it already comes with pre-installed apps that include some from Google. There are actually a lot of features Realme 6i got that you can adjust depending on your mood and liking. There is a split-screen option where you can simply swipe up using your three fingers, the game space where you can manage or even hide games on the home screen, sidebars, and even parental controls.

One of the problems that I encountered thou with the realme 6i was when I was trying to connect it to my wifi. I was having a hard time connecting the unit not until I realize that my wifi was set to 5G. Unfortunately, realme 6i can only connect at WiFi 4 speed (802.11 n).

In my initial installation, around 17GB have already been used of my total 128GB storage.

Battery life is something that Realme 6i is proud of. Having a massive 5000mAH battery, this has been Realme largest battery and surely the longest battery life in their line up as of today. And because, the new normal shifted my life into doing livestreaming, having a smartphone with long battery life is a must. With moderate usage, the phone can actually last for up to almost 1 day using it for Youtube.

realme 6i also has the Quick Charge which is one of the most popular features of realme Phones.

All in all the realme 6i is such a good looking phone that is both powerful and affordable. It has some downside but just decently suited to its price range. Realme 6i would be perfect for an individual who loves to be online on much longer hours.

realme 6i is available in 3GB  + 64GB for PHP 7,990 and 4GB + 128GB for PHP 9,990
