13,000 is the number of steps I am targeting to achieve on a daily basis. That is before the lockdown started. I was too busy going around the city, that sometimes I achieved my daily target even the day isn’t done yet. Though with the new normal we are currently experiencing, a lot of things have change. We are trying our best to adapt and find something new to keep us occupied. Even our routines have been adjusted, or should I say worsen? Just to be able to keep up from the change.
How am I holding on? Keep on reading.
BEFORE THE LOCKDOWN
I got a really active lifestyle before the lockdown. I got a regular job, blogging duties on the side, attending different events in the metro, while inserting physical activities like going to the gym in between to maintain my physique. I tried my best to sleep on a regular-hours and I really keep my best to manage my time properly to be able to ticked all of my activities within the day.
I was on track on attaining my body goal last January and to help me out I joined the Spartan Race. It was an awesome experience that I decided to register again. I said, maybe this would really make me more driven in attaining my goal. Unfortunately, Covid-19 started to spread in the Philippines. And everyone was force to do a quarantine. Stay home and be safe. Major events, flights and activities had been cancelled. I was told to do my work at home. And I thought it was okay. But the abrupt change didn’t really give us the time to face it.
KEEPING UP WITH THE QUARANTINE
Over the weeks of staying at home I develop this habit of being lazy, eating frequently and sleeping on a very late hour. It was such a bad habit that I gained about 5 lbs. of weight over a few weeks. It didn’t really bother me at first but it hit me when I realize that I was wasting time and not really maximizing the gift I was given, to do what I’ve been wanting to do when time was a constraint.
Hence when a package arrived, I said maybe this could be a sign for me to start moving and get back on track.
I finally wore my Huawei Smartwatch GT 2e.

The quarantine life actually introduces me to the livestreaming world. I became to hook to the app called KUMU, I streamed or watch other livestreams every day. This actually keeps me awake even in the middle of the night. But as I wore my new Smartwatch, I said, I really need to get back to my original habit before the quarantine. Lessen the time I am in the app and started doing what I should be doing ever since the quarantine started.
So I fixed my schedule and my week.
On a Monday, the first day for the work week, I tried my best to wake up as early as 8:30am. After breakfast, I usually go straight to work. I set my smartwatch to remind me every hour to at least standup and walk a little to break the routine. I gave myself 10-20 mins break to do chores and other personal stuff in the house within the day.
Tuesday is my schedule for home workouts. At exactly 4pm in the afternoon, Lharby will be sending us a link for the zoom meeting for the group workout. The workout we were doing is called HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training. The no equipment HIIT workout usually lasts for less than 2 hours. I was glad that there is a HIIT option on my Huawei GT2e Smartwatch. Before each session, I will set my smartwatch to HIIT option to properly monitor my activity. There are actually tons of other options you can add in the GT2e Smartwatch. I found other forms of workouts like, yoga, aerobics, Pilates, CrossFit, belly dancing, kendo and even fencing and a lot more.
Every Wednesday and Thursday are set for my errands, this would either be a day where I would go out in the market or buy water at the refilling station. I am living alone here in Quezon City, hence I would need to tend to myself to survive. Sometimes, I even visit the laundry shop on these days. In my area, I got four options to buy my groceries, a Puregold along Quezon Avenue, another Puregold supermarket along west avenue, and two SM Supermarkets in North EDSA. I usually prefer visiting the supermarket in SM North EDSA for variety reasons while Puregold along Quezon avenue is the most accessible among the 4.
And because I do not have a vehicle to visit these places, my only option is to walk towards it. Which is totally fine, at least it could also be a form of exercise. Going to and from and doing my errands would sometimes give me 3000 to 6000 steps within the day. Not much compare to my daily target before but good enough during the quarantine. Of course, I used my Huawei Smartwatch GT2e to properly track my activities.

Friday for me is just like another Monday. During the quarantine, I actually sometimes forgot what day is it. Maybe because my day become too routinely it would feel almost the same every day.
Over the past few weeks, I also tried my best to gain sleep, 6-8 hours of it per day. To track my sleep properly, I would wear my Huawei GT2e Smartwatch during nighttime. Though, the watch could be a bit annoying when sleeping, but I think a few more days of doing it would make me feel okay wearing it. Time to time, I would click on the Huawei Health app to check my progress on a daily basis. It just makes me feel good seeing something wonderful is happening overtime.
