Dapitan Arcade – The Best Place to buy Affordable Home Decors in Manila (Tips + Items you can purchase in the Market)

I’ve been wanting to visit Dapitan Arcade ever since I heard of its existence from my friends and colleagues (Dapitan Arcade opened in 2003). Sabi nila the best daw bumili ng mga accent pieces and locally made handcrafts here sa Dapitan arcade. Perfect ito sa mga taong mahilig mag decorate ng kanilang mga bahay.

Though honestly speaking, even I do not have the space in the house for such items, I still went and visited Dapitan due to curiosity.  Gusto ko lang din naman malaman kung ano-anong mga interesting finds ang mabibili duon at malay natin baka may magustuhan tayo at biglang may mabuting puso sa sa atin na magbigay … lol!

DAPITAN ARCADE AFFORDABLE HOME DECOR STORE IN MANILA-2

Anyway, I went to Dapitan Arcade on a Sunday at around 1’o’clock in the afternoon. I think it is one of the best times to visit because aside from the fact that there are only a few people shopping, it is easier to look for parking as well.

If wala ka naming car, you can reach Dapitan arcade simply by riding a jeep. Here is a simple commute guide on how to go there.

  1. From SM North EDSA, walk towards West Avenue and ride a jeep going to Quiapo or Pier.
  2. Go down at Kanlaon Street.
  3. From there you can take a tricycle going to Dapitan Arcade. Or if not, you can also walk two blocks to reach the place.

Dapitan Arcade is located just across Kanlaon street and Dapitan street and is just beside a wet market.

One of my goals today is to be able to find a possible supplier of glassware and wooden disk for my terrarium project. Will try our best to find something nice here.

So, what are the items that we can possibly find here? Well, there are actually a lot, I was told that Dapitan Arcade is known as the bagsakan or the place where big home decor companies put there overrun items. On my visit I saw a lot of tableware’s, capiz lights, metal furniture, house decors, wood crates, vintage items, decorative pots, jewelry cases, pedestal tables and a lot more. I was also able to find some of items that I’ve been looking for (which are glass jars) but I felt that Dapitan Arcade lacks variety on it.

Some of the items that I usually see that are being sold in the mall are available here as well at a much cheaper price.

Are you planning already to visit Dapitan Arcade? Hep! Hep! Here are some others that you can use.

  1. Dapitan arcade usually opens at 9 to 5 in the afternoon. Better to go there after lunch para walang masyadong tao. Or if early riser ka and you decided to bring a car, go there before the store opens para una ka talaga sa parking.
  2. Dress down. Wear comfy clothes and shoes or slippers. Magdala ka na din ng payong at pamaypay specially during humid days.
  3. Haggle but remember to be fair on your pricing. Wag masyadong barat and make it close to reality.
  4. If buying, better to get items in bulk. The more you purchase the bigger the discount.

Remember guys na when shopping here in Dapitan, it is better to really take your time to go around first before buying. There are a possibility that you might find some other good pieces hidden underneath all the other pieces. If you know what you are looking for, better to ask the sellers, kasi baka yung hinahanap mo na items ay hindi lang visible sa mga naka display.

By the way just a trivia guys, did you know that the word Dapitan came from a Cebuano word “Dapit” which means “to invite” kaya tara na. visit na when you have time.

Will be back here for sure, at least now I have an alternative place to shop when I’ll be looking for home decors and gifts n different special occasions.

Until our next discovery in the City!
