Movie Review: MIA (Rating: 8/10)

There are two words I googled after watching the film MIA, Bataraza, and Bromedia. Bataraza is a town in Palawan where Rio Tuba Mining company is located while Bromedia is a flowering plant known for its long adaptable life.

The two B-word actually caught my attention not just because it was new to my vocabulary but due to the information given from the scenes that actually made me curious about it.

At first, you wouldn’t really know the connection between the two but after watching the upcoming film MIA, you’ll probably know how to connect both.

MIA – showing this January 15, 2020

MIA is an upcoming film of the award-winning director Veronica Velasco starring Coleen Garcia and Edgar Allan Guzman. MIA tells the tale of a self-destructive alcoholic, Mia, a doctor struggling to heal from the tragedy of her fiancé’s death, and Jay, who transforms mined-out land into rainforests.

With the main actors – Coleen Garcia and Edgar Allan Guzman

You might actually say that it would be just another Pinoy rom-com film after watching the trailer, but I can say it actually gives more than what you are thinking. The movie might have a cliché ending but the development of the story will definitely take you on a wild ride.

Honestly speaking, I wasn’t really feeling the chemistry between Coleen and EA at first, but as the movie develops, it will never let you down. That ‘kilig’ factor you’re waiting will be overflowing.

And oh, there is a bunch of surprises at the end. So better stay put till the closing credits.

The Casts of the movie “MIA”

The screenplay is co-written by Velasco and Jinky Laurel. Other cast members include veteran actors Yayo Aguila and William Martinez, Billy Crawford, Star Orjaliza, Jeremy Domingo, Sunshine Teodoro, Pau Benitez, and Xenia Barrameda.

The film is produced by public relations guru and award-winning filmmaker Chris Cahilig of Insight 360 Films in partnership with Viva Films.

Will I recommend you to watch this? Definitely, yes! I have a feeling that if given a chance it would be good content to be shown on NETFLIX. Giving MIA an 8/10. MIA will be shown in theaters this coming January 15, 2020.

Until our next discovery in the City!
