I was only able to understand fully the difference of a bespoke and tailored suit recently. This was when I’ve met one of the man behind the brand J. Recon Tailors. I always thought that bespoke was just another term of a tailored suite, but only able to learn it, that there was more out of just the name.
To simply understand it, it all falls down to the numbers of measurement done in the process. A bespoke tailored suit have an additional 25-30 measurement and the measurement process usually takes around 30mins+ to finish. It is like a higher version of a tailored suit where a so called bespoke tailor should be equipped with additional knowledge to fully perform it.
Add to that, a bespoke tailor got a wide range of premium quality fabric. We are talking about here fabrics that would cost around Php 10,000 and up per yard. Add that to the effort, popularity and skills of a tailor then the price of your brand new suit would truly be prime and expensive.
But not everyone who can offer both skills and premium materials are too expensive, have you met Jay Aaron Recon of J. Recon Tailors?
Continue Reading and will tell you more about what he can offer.
Along with his business partner, Carlos, I was able to experience how a bespoke tailored suit is made. From the laborious measurement, to even knowing and learning more about the fabrics and to actually wearing one.
This happened when I stayed for a night at Golden Phoenix Hotel in Pasay City. I was with some blogger friends who also came to meet Aaron. I really had a great time for aside from the tailoring session, we were also given a taste of what pampering feels like here in Golden Phoenix Hotel Manila – a free 15 minute massage at Wonderful Bliss Spa and a facial services care of Vine Holistic Medical Aesthetics. Why J. Recon Tailors?
Just a little background, Aaron Reconquista was actually a license pilot and as he said moonlighting as a tailor. He and his high school friend, Carlos, started the business in 2018, J. Recon Tailors aims to provide excellent craftsmanship and quality suits tailored to perfection.
J. Recon Tailors offers Bespoke & Custom-made Suits, Bespoke Oxford Shoes and Mass Tailoring Services.
On the usual, a suit would take days or weeks to finish, but for some instances (due to clients special request) J. Recon has been able to create a quality suit for a day. Nevertheless, as quick as he cam do it, quality is surely not to be compromise.
But what makes J. Recon differ from the others are not just its bespoke designs but boils down to service. They wanted to be known as the tailors who give an added service to their clients not just giving them more knowledge about the process but by also letting them experience the same quality of service right at their homes. Aside from home service, J. Recon also does consultation and fitting.
To what I learn fitting plays a vital role in the whole process of a bespoke suit. In fact, when I was already being measured, Aaron was jotting down lots of measurements from my body that I didn’t really experience before. It took us almost 25 minutes to finish. What’s good about the process is while he was performing the measurement, he was so keen on explaining to me why and how important that measurements was. Of course with added trivia on the side.
Suit Prices
Just like what I said awhile ago, J. Recon suits are much more affordable compare to other tailors. Well of course, this will always vary depending on which materials you would be using. There are fabrics that are really too expensive to used but if you are into that, good thing J. Recon Tailors can provide you with such.
Suit Prices at J.Recon starts at Php 9, 750 and up. They call this Essential Suit which can be a started set in classic black, navy, grey and/or khaki. This suit is perfect for your day-to-day use.

Few More things to learn About Suits
Do you know the difference between a single-breasted jacket and a double-breasted jacket? A SINGLE-BREASTED jacket has two halves that button together at the front. As said Single Breasted Jacket is a standard style we can wear on a day to day basis. The number of buttons usually varies between 1-4. Although the most common style of a single-breasted coat have two or three buttons.
A DOUBLE-BREASTED jacket on the other hand is far more formal than a single-breasted jacket. The number of buttons varies between four, six or eight on the front with six as a standard (Classic Y-Shape). Peak lapels are a defining feature of these jackets.
If you are getting your very first suit and a bit confuse with all the colors and designs available, I suggest for you to go with these three safe colors – Charcoal, Navy and Khaki/Tan. These suits can be wear in most occasions.
