Commute Guide: How to go to Tagaytay from Manila (via DLTB Bus to Tagaytay / PITX to Tagaytay)

(Updated July 31, 2022) Tagaytay has considered one of the favorite destinations visited by city dwellers, being just a few hours away from Manila. And with the recent road constructions and new attractions along the way, more and more people are being enticed to visit this cold place. Bringing your own car could be one of the best ways to travel to Tagaytay. But if there would be no other option but to commute, taking a bus to Tagaytay would be the next best thing.

There are several ways to go to Tagaytay, commuting, of course depending on where you are coming from. However, the best options are either the Bus terminals in Buendia, Pasay Taft, or the one in Coastal Mall (Which I have not tried yet). Some are saying that you can also include the Bus terminal in Cubao, but I am doubtful about it for all or most of the provincial buses there are headed northward.

In this commuting guide, I will be giving you an idea of how to go to Tagaytay coming from the North via DLTB Buses. Let’s begin our journey starting …

  1. Ride the carousel bus along EDSA and go down at the last stop, which is at PITX (Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange)
  2. Go to the second floor and look for GATE 2
  3. Take the Bus heading to Tagaytay, bus operators include ERJOHN AND ALMARK,SAN AGUSTIN, STARLINER
  4. First trip is at 4:30am / Last trip is at 8:00pm (Interval is every 30 minutes)

From Quezon Ave via FX (One Way – Php 123);

  1. Ride an FX or Jeep heading to Buendia. FX fare is Php 35 per head.
  2. Go down at Buendia and walk towards DLTB Bus Terminal. The bus is located almost near the corner of Gil Puyat (Buendia)
  3. Ride the Bus with the sign Nasugbu (Liam/Tagaytay) or any bus with Tagaytay. Fare is Php 88 (Aircon Bus)
  4. Go down at Tagaytay Rotunda.
  5. From here you can either ride a trike or jeep depending on where you are heading. Trike basic ride is Php 20.

Via LRT from North EDSA (One Way – Php 118)

Via MRT-LRT from North EDSA (One way – Php 131)

  1. Ride MRT at North EDSA Station. Fare is Php 28.
  2. Go down to the last station, Pasay Taft Avenue Station. Transfer to LRT and ride on the line going to the North.
  3. Go down at Gil Puyat Station, which is just two stations away. (Fare: Php 15)
  4. Walk towards DLTB Bus Terminal.
  5. Ride the Bus with the sign Nasugbu (Liam/Tagaytay) or any bus with Tagaytay signage. The fare is Php 88 (Aircon Bus).
  6. Go down at Tagaytay Rotunda.
  7. From here you can either ride a trike or jeep depending on where you are heading. Trike basic ride is Php 20.

There are other stations and routes you can try if you are planning in visiting Tagaytay. Aside from the DLTB Buendia Bus Terminal, you can also try visiting the Bus Terminal located at the back of Mc Donalds and Chowking in MRT Pasay Taft Terminal (Across Kabayan Hotel). Another Bus Terminal is located in Lawton, the one near Manila City Hall (which I would need to double-check if it still exists) and another one in Coastal Mall terminal, both I haven’t really tried yet.

Another way to commute to Tagaytay is by taking an FX or Bus ride from Shaw Boulevard. Though this route will entail you to do a transfer. It is still something you can consider especially if you are living around the area. Go to the terminal located in front of Star Mall and look for the FX and/or Buses going to Dasmarinas, Cavite. Coming from Dasmarinas terminal, you can ride a jeepney going straight to Tagaytay.

Coming From Tagaytay Back to Manila

From Manila, you can get off at the Tagaytay Rotunda or Olivarez. Most buses will turn right from this point, if you are not sure where you are going yet, going down at Tagaytay Rotunda would be the best. From here, you can get around Tagaytay via Jeep or Trike.

If you decided to go back to Manila, just ride a bus heading back to Manila at Tagaytay Rotunda or Olivarez. All the buses coming from Batangas will pass through here. ⚜
