The foundation dedicated to help retired basketball players, PBA Legends Foundation, recently received P3-M donation from the recent UNTV Return of the Rivals Game.
The double-header game happened last February 17, 2019 at the big dome, Araneta Coliseum, which was filled with cheers and thrills as legendary players like, Caidic, Willer, Abarientos, Hizon and the others showed their fans that they still have what it takes to play at the benefit game.
Four rivaling PBA teams competed — Alaska versus San Miguel, and Ginebra versus Purefoods — with winning teams receiving Php 100,000 plus other prizes. The Best player of the game on the other hand received Php 25,000 and additional prizes.
The beermen, San Miguel won over Alaska on the first game with 96-83 with the “The Trigger Man” Allan Caidic, hailed as the Best Player of the Game.
And in the Purefoods versus Ginebra clash, the latter took home the grand prize with 97-89 points. Players Jayjay Helterbarand and Vince Hizon where announce as the Best Player of the Game. (Also Read: UNTV Cup Finals 2)
The players are very thankful that the PBA Legends exhibition matches for a cause was a success. According to PBA Legends Foundation Chariman, Fortunato “Atoy” Co, having this kind of activity is a very noble cause in raising money that could be used to help the former players for when they get sick and in need.
UNTV, led by its President / CEO Kuya Daniel Razon, gave the PBA Legends Foundation P 3-million donation to PBA Legends Foundation after the two hard-court matches. (Also Read: I became a basketball commentator for a day)
According to Kuya Daniel Razon, supporting the PBA Legends will not end here, there would be follow-up projects for the benefit of the former basketball players who would need help, medical assistance, and other things which they could do for the basketball players’ foundation.
