Giving the ASUS ZENFONE MAX PRO M1 a revamp comes the new ASUS ZENFONE MAX PRO M2 with a larger screen, better performing CPU and GPU and a higher front camera resolution.
Fans of the phone would definitely be getting more than what they paid for; for a price of PHP 14,995.00, the ZENFONE MAX PRO M2 is yet considered as the most stylish Battery King yet.
Continue reading and will tell you more about my experience using the phone.
There are 3 basic questions that I ask before I get a new phone; Is the camera any good? Can it play movies and videos on a nice screen? Can it last for a long period of time? Add to that the #MarieKondo line “Does it spark joy?
texting “Wer n U?”
I guess Zenfone Max Pro M2 certainly answers all those questions proudly, giving me not just performance but also a nice looking finish.
Just a quick overview of the unit; The ZenFone Max Pro M2 performs with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 that can able to deliver smooth, responsive power. It has a massively powerful 5000mAh battery (same with Max Pro M1) that is perfect for non-stop gaming and non-stop entertainment, and now, it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 6 in front – just the second smartphone in the world to have this, after the ROG Phone – making it more durable.
To test its performance, I brought my ZenFone Max Pro M2 on my recent 3-day trip to Davao City. I use it as my second phone and as my alternative wide-angle camera as well.
Camera Performance
I have this mix of bitter and sweet feeling about ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2’s performance. It is not that I do not like it totally but there are moments that I find its performance a hit and miss.

When it comes to well light ambiance I have no problem with the unit. I actually love the details it gives to the images with a soft color processing. Both front and rear camera performs well. But when it comes to the front camera’s depth effect mode I notice a small problem to its blur effect. Notice a selfie photo I posted below and look at the upper left portion of my hair. You’ll see that in a well-lighted scenario, the Bokeh effect of the camera didn’t work really well in separating the background and the foreground. Though I think this is forgivable specially that I really love the beautification effect the phone actually gives. Look! No Pores!
Entertainment
I think this unit is best used for watching movies, YouTube videos and Netflix! Imagine, watching your favorite Netflix series on a vivid 19:9 FHD+ display. That is just insane! I love that the Max Pro 2 has a wider screen where I can fully enjoy watching movies. Though the sound quality of the speaker is average, it was good to know that its sounds very loud. But it could have been better if Asus have managed to make it a stereo instead. Nevertheless, you may choose to use the 3.5mm headphones included with the unit.
Battery Life
5000 mAh is actually equivalent to one powerbank already. Definitely hands down when we talk about the battery life! I used the unit for almost three days and I came back to Manila and I still haven’t charge the unit. Well that is of course with the phone unit just being used as a camera phone, entertainment and gaming. But nevertheless, Zenfone units walk their talk letting me know that it is a Battery king to beat!
Gaming
Being a new (addicted) player of Mobile Legends, I look forward to using Zenfone Max Pro M2 for gaming. Having a really large storage capacity, I decided to download lots of games in the unit. I love that Mobile Legends game have used the extended screen size of the unit (compare to my Iphone 8+). I have no problems playing the game and I also love the quality of the images for it is more detailed than my other phone. Though I only got a problem when I link my former game from an IOS to my android phone. I then experience some lagging and late button responses, I am not sure if this is a unit problem or simply an app problem that needs to be dealt by the game makers.
Final Verdict
For the revamp version of the previously love Max Pro M1, the Max Pro M2 definitely have more to give than the previous one. For the price of PHP 14,995.00, Max Pro M2 can definitely give one a decent gaming device with a powerhouse battery life. And oh, stylishly beautiful!
