Jacq Monteverde is a seasoned model and actress but haven’t really ventured online. She believe that being a part of Synergy88’s Talent Acquisition & Management Division (TAMD) could give her a wider opportunity she is looking for.
Jacq along with model and actor Opi Eusebio and the girl group DigiSquad joined TAMD’s initial roster of talent. The group has already been making waves in local gaming events and conventions, most recently in ESGS 2017. The company considered that doing online could probably be considered a step forward for their career. The contract signing was held at Victorino’s Restaurant last April 11, 2018.
Synergy88: From gaming to talent management
Synergy88 is a company that hardly makes any noise outside elite gaming circles. But their work is enjoyed on a global scale—the unassuming studio has worked on assets for critically acclaimed games such as Microsoft Studio’s Gears of War 4 and CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, among others. That shiny new weapon you picked up in the game? There’s a huge chance that it was drawn by a Filipino artist in a quiet studio in Quezon city. Amazing right?
We could say that having a talent pool is really something new for Synergy88 but they believe that putting up this kind of service would not just increase their sales but could also widen their market.
“We originally started as an animation studio, subcontracting for other Asian and European studios,” says Ms. Jackeline Chua, Managing Director and Co-founder of Synergy 88. “We then moved to creating art for video games, and eventually started creating mobile games of our own.”
“Looking back, we found ourselves drawing inspiration a lot from Filipino culture,” says Ms. Chua. “That’s when we realized our mission—to use our talent to directly tell the story of the Filipino people.”
Aside from foreign projects, Synergy88 also have a Filipino-themed games such as Ang Panday and Vince & Kath, to originals such as Barangay 143. As Synergy88 found success in animation and gaming, they felt the need to take their cultural advocacy one step further through introducing TAMD.
