UNTV just recently relaunched a documentary program called “Spotlight” hosted by William Thio.
I still remember how I have been a part of the show “Spotlight” producing it for the very first time. Back then (I cannot remember what year that was), I was given the opportunity to work with two hosts, my friend and co-worker Atty. Regie Tongol and William Thio himself, who I have been introduced to for the very first time. As I remember, the introductory episode was to feature the lives of the two hosts. It was then followed by an interview with the former president of Philippine University of the Philippines. Then we did a trip to Laguna to feature Enchated Kingdom‘s owner Cesar Mario Mamom.
My association with the show was shorten when due to multiple programs I was handling (Remember: Bread n’ Butter) but I am sure still feel lucky to share ideas for the improvements of it.
Fast forward to 2017, I found myself not producing the show but instead hosting the relaunch on the program “Spotlight“.
Its returning host, highly experienced news anchor and talk show host William Thio, said in the event that the program will introduce iconic figures in the country in a new and improve format. (Check out William on GNN: Opinion Leaders)
“Maraming mga tao na para bang kilala natin but we want to bring to the viewers what people don’t know which is more of the personal life. If they’re successful, kung ano ‘yung mga challenges na naranasan nila na para bang did they want to give up,” Thio said.
Spotlight also gives its viewers an opportunity to learn from the colorful stories of its guests. It is not only going to be informative and entertaining but also inspirational as well. William adds there are some changes in the program’s concept.
“During that time, Regie was doing the political side, serious political side and I was doing more of the lifestyle and entertainment so yung relaunch ng spotlight ngayon has a slightly different format , more of achievers, more of people who are successful in their given fields,” Thio added.

SPOTLIGHT features stories of famous individuals and celebrities, their triumphs and challenges. The program is to be aired every Saturday from 4:30pm to 5:00pm on UNTV starting October 28. Spotlight features the Superstar, Ms. Nora Aunor for its pilot episode.
