Re-creating High School Life at the Philippine National Museum (National Book Store)

If you would asked me to re-create a part of my past, I would definitely consider re-creating my high-school years. It was the peak of my teenage life and I regret that I wasn’t able enjoyed it that much. I could have been more curious and explored more in life. I could have done and discovered more things. I could have made friends that I could connect up to this moment. But unfortunately those things didn’t happen.

Ready to go back to school!

I was a bookish back then but didn’t excel much in English and practical Mathematics. But I do love Physics, Geography and  other Sciences. There was a time back then that I joined a spelling bee just for the thought that joining would spare me from attending the English class for a day. Ang lakas lang ng loob ko! hahaha!  As expected, I was eliminated in the first round.

I may be excelling in some subjects before, but I realised now that I was too afraid and very introvert on those years. That most of the time, I was missing a lot of things growing up. If only I started to mature at an early stage, I could have done more in life at this age I guess.

In our last school year, most of my classmates already got an idea on what they really want to pursue in the future while I was still confuse and do not really know what to do.  I just go with the flow and my only goal was to finish High School. I do not really have a direction in life.

But my high school  years isn’t just about regrets, there was a few things I love about it as well. Aside from the long break-time, the daily ‘baon’, cracking jokes, chatting time, I also love doing recreational activities. Have I told you that I stared as a main actor in a major play in school back then.

Having a break. Drinking coke in a plastic container.

Aside from that, I also enjoyed doing groups projects. Yes I did! I guess because I just love being in a group, having that feeling of belongingness. I was mostly part of the sourcing back then, buying materials and stuff for our projects.

I still remember those small stores in IS Pavillion in Meycauayan and the other stores I already forgot the name. You will always find me buying items at National Book Store (NBS) which is way too different from what it is today. NBS was always a hit specially on back-to-school season where in convenience, budget-friendly options, and a superb selection always await every customers.

Before, the store was only limited on selling basic school supplies and a few books, but today it grows so big that you can even buy items for the grown ups! They even got that Grab & Go packs which are items pack together that you can just pick and head straight to the cashier.

The store layout was also a big change now. Before the store looks like a crowded library but now, National Book Stores layout is easier to go around and shop for the items you need.

Have you head about the free shipping service offered by NBS? If your Orders are worth P1,000 or above you can get free shipping. But this only applies to those who would be buying online via there website www.nationalbookstore.com. But hey, that’s simply convenience and ease of stress-free shopping, it’s simply priceless!

But for most of it all, one thing that didn’t change about NBS are the Low Price Deals! There are always sale or bundled items you can get through Budget Bundles. For affordable and quality school supplies, look no further than Best Buy.

Our OOTD wouldn’t be complete without our leather shoes! Thank you El Marikeno!

My high school life was also the time you would see me hanging out in computer stores or arcades. I always enjoyed those places even I wasn’t really playing. I was like an observer, wasting time and even buying coins for a friend just to watch and see how he play the game.

We went straight to a coffee shop and were caught cutting classes! Professor Ferds with Classmates Ruth and Rod.

Music from Backstreet Boys, NSync, The Corrs, Alternative bands like Incubus, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Greenday, I can go on and on trying to list down artists I love listening in those years. Movie Theater was so affordable  back then that I wish I could go back and bring the money I got today to watch and do marathons. Cellphones wasn’t a thing before; it was beepers, landlines and two way radios. Hahaha! I guess even without spilling it out you’ve already guessed what year am I saying. Will leave it to your thinking or maybe comment on the box below and tell me what you think?

But if given a chance to re-create my High School life, what changes should I possibly make?

Hmmm , I guess I wouldn’t change much from who I am before but instead I would be adding more to it. I would be more outgoing and create a lasting friendships. I’d build more self confidence. I will face those bullies headstrong (and do a retribution) and I will definitely try to live and enjoy it more.

At the end of the day, I may have regrets in the past, I could say that those moments was already done and it happened to make me who I am today. I guess it’s just always fun to talk about those things you do in the memory lane.

Will tell you more about our day trip to National Museum on a separate post.

Until our next discovery in the City!
