The original BKK Express is a kiosk type restaurant and is the newest addition to the expanding restaurant concepts of Cabalen, serving authentic thai dishes at a very affordable price. Located at the 4th floor, Uptown Mall Food Hall, the original BKK Express invited me over to try some of their flagship dishes.

If you’ve been an avid follower of my blog and if you have read some of the restaurant reviews I did before, you would probably have an idea about my taste when it comes to food. And I know, that you know already that I consider my self more of an “Eat Blogger” than a “Food Blogger”. Meaning, I just love to eat and not really that good in detailing the taste of the food I ate. My comments are mostly good, okay or not that good. So don’t really expect that much.

Thai Cuisine is something that I like because of its distinct flavors of mixing 3 or 4 or even 5 fundamental taste senses in each meal. Add to that are the stories I heard from friends saying how the food in Thailand taste like makes me even wanted to fly to Bangkok the soonest.

But, I guess for a starter, lets have a taste first of what BKK Express can offer.

The most famous food from Thailand was first serve in our table. BKK Offers four variants of Pad ThaiPad Thai Crabmeat, Pad Thai in Chicken, Pad Thai in Tofu and Pad Thai Singaporean. Price range starts from 190 to 250.

Stir fried Pad Thai noodles are serve with special home made tamarind sauce with dried shrimps, egg, bean sprouts, dried radish, chives, and tofu.

Amongst the four variants one that caught my taste buds was their version of Pad Thai Singaporean. It looks like a typical local pancit but what I’ve heard from them is that this kind of pad Thai is mix with ketchup making the taste a bit sweater.

When it comes to Thai Grill Plates, BKK express made us try their Chicken Satay, Thai Sweet Pork BBQ and Grilled Thai Isan Sausage. Amongst the three, I prefer the Thai Sweet Pork BBQ, which costs Php 330.00.

Of course we would not missed to tastes their Thai Iced tea and two of the desserts namely Sticky Rice Mango Sundae and Waterchesnut & toddy Palm on ice. I’m kind of have that weird feeling about how the Waterchesnut dessert tasted like but definitely the Sticky Rice Mango Sundae is a must have!

I totally enjoyed most of the dishes they serve but felt that some other dishes taste the same like the other, or maybe I just didn’t know how to mix it pretty well.

Asking me if they have achieved to stay authentic as possible, well, the management said that they have tweaked some of the dishes like the Sticky Rice Mango where they added a sundae. What they are proud of is that almost all of their main ingredients come straight from Thailand giving the customers the most authentic distinct flavors of chili, sour, salty, bitter and spicy in each of their meals.
