Zion Aquino launches his 10-track album entitled “Grateful Soul” at the 25th Anniversary celebration of Trina Belamide.
I had this conversation with some of my friends a few months ago about achieving their first “million” in their lifetime. Some already got it at the age of 35, others at around 30 and some even at the younger age. I felt a bit small hearing it from them knowing at my age, I still need to do a lot of working to achieve even half of what they had. But realising it again, I felt that I shouldn’t feel that way. Yes, I may not have more, but hey, I think I have just enough. I may not have a big investment, but hey, I got what I need. I may not be living luxuriously, but lucky I don’t have a disease to battle. I am lucky and I’m grateful for it.
“Grateful” could have been the perfect word to describe how my friend Zion Aquino is feeling right now. After conquering different battles in life (He was a cancer survivor), now I watch him at the stage, singing his songs, presenting it to the world and letting everyone knows how grateful he is for everything.
He was presented as the newest talent by the award winning song writer, and now manager and record producer – Trina Belamide. Celebrating her 25 year in the music business, Trina looks back at her milestones as an award winning songwriter and looks forward of making success with Zion Aquino’s debut album aptly called “Grateful Soul”.
At the anniversary event held at 12 Monkeys last September 15, 2016, Trina Belamide performed some of her most memorable compositions with the help of some artists who originally recorded her hits: The Company sings “Now that I have you,” Ms. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid singing her hit song “You’ve made me Stronger” as well as ex-Miss Saigon lead actress Ima Castro who also shared the stage with the latter artists to perform the hit song “Shine”.
It was a surprised performance that started from simply aiming to have a group photo.
Other hit songs composed by Trina includes the heart-wrenching “Happy Valentine’s Day” which won Overall Second Prize in the 1999 USA Songwriting Competition, making her the first Asian songwriter to win one of the prestigious contest’s top prizes. Also the ever popular “Tell the World of His Love” which was selected to be the Official theme song of World Youth Day in 1995. If you’re a kid of the 90’s you probably have sing that song!

Moving forward, Trina Belamide introduces his newest talent under her management, Zion Aquino with a debut album called “Grateful Soul.’
Zion’s 10 track album, written and produced entirely by Belamide, showcases her versatility as a songwriter and is a testament of her world-class songwriting skills. The album highlights Zion Aquino’s soulful voice, which has secured him victories in the past contests such as MTV’s Search for the Next Big Thing and Star World’s Filipino American Idol.
It wasn’t my first time to hear Zion sing but he always manages to give me an awe whenever he perform. I usually tell my radio jock friends before that I got a friend name Zion who got this John Legend-y x James Morrison kinda voice, so powerful that you can actually be moved with his performance.
