From Cebu now they are in Manila! If your in for some fresh seafood treat, Choobi Choobi could be the best place to be!
I’ve heard about this place some time ago from friends who were able to try it and finally I was able to when I visited a few weeks ago along with my office mates. Im so looking forward to tasting signature Choobi items! Lets see how this goes.
The Feels at Choobi Choobi Panay Avenue
With bright and homey feel Choobi-Choobi’s interior is definitely inviting. They got big logos outside which is easy to notice passing by Panay Ave. Thou public transport isn’t passing in this area, it is still easy to locate for its just a block away from Quezon Avenue. Inside, there are wooden tables which can accommodate a group of families and friends. There is also a bar at the end which is inside the segment intended for functions.
Check out the video I created for Choobi Choobi here.
Whole Choobang and more!
I heard alot about Choobi-Choobi, I was told that its The only restaurant that uses fresh shrimp harvested in Cebu from the largest shrimp farm in the Philippines which brings a fresh and unique seafood dining experience to everyone.
Imagine a fresh catch of seafood served to you in exciting, flavorful ways. There’s no need for me to catch a flight to Cebu to experience this because their leading restaurant is just a few blocks away from my place in Quezon City.
And just like that I was able to taste a few of their dishes. First up is the Choobi Pata which is their version of Crispy Pata which is as expected crispy on the outside but soft and juicy in the inside. An order costs Php 465 which can be shared to two to three friends.
It was then followed by a fish dish called Grilled Pompano which costs Php 90/100g. I actually love the fish and on how they marinated it to make it more tastier.
A unique dish which is one of the specially of Choobi-Choobi was presented, the Giant Bamboo Clam which cost Php 140/pc. I’m not a fan of clam but the dish looks okay for me so I tried it, it tastes okay but it still didn’t change my idea about clams.
Finally, the most awaited item in our table was serve! It was the Whole Choobang in Spicy flavour. This definitely favored my liking, and you can really feel the freshness of the shrimp as you bite and sip that juice on to its head. The Shrimp in a Bag costs Php 395 per serving which is a pound of fresh shrimp. You can also add up additional sweet corn for only Php 45.00.
Just a quick trivia, Did you know that Choobi-Choobi owner Stan Tanchan has been in the shrimp industry for over 20 years. Choobi Choobi was born out of his love for food and sharing it with great company. Though shrimp is Choobi Choobi’s specialty, their menu boasts of Filipino comfort food that’ll have you saying, “lami kaayo!” even if you’re not Cebuano.
There are still other ways to enjoy a pound of shrimp here in Choobi-Choobi but I will let you experience it on your own. Capping up our dinner we were serve with different desserts like the Choco Molten Kiss Decadent brownie topped with vanilla ice cream (Php 180.00), Coffee Jelly (Php 70.00), and Mango Crepe (Php 140.00). A must try as well is the Lychee Kale for Php 130.00.
Choobi Choobi can be visited in the following areas: Capitol, Mabolo, Mactan Newton, SM NRA, SM Seaside, SM Manila, Panay Avenue Quezon City, SM Ilo-ilo, SM Bacolod, SM Davao, Limketkai CDO, SM Southmall, SM Sta. Rosa and Centrio Ayala Mall.
