What is your favorite extreme sports activity? Or do you even try one?
I might have a slight fear of heights but that doesn’t stop me from trying. There was this time that I was on the edge of giving up and letting go but after a few minutes of convincing myself, I did it! Remember the Monkey Bridge?
Before ending up the journey, I didn’t let the day pass without trying the so-called Monkey bridge. It’s a 2 cord wiring attached at both ends of the river where one should need to balance himself to cross it. It looks a bit easy as how the locals does it, but damn hard when your already in it. The cord line becomes a bit shaky as you reach the middle and my arms and muscles are becoming weak as I go along. I was just thinking “to please do not fall …” and I felt like letting it go. Ha! Ha! It’s a combination of balance, focus and strength as well. Well, I’m glad I succeeded without getting wet!
But sometimes it’s more on the safety issue and questioning “what if” we are really afraid of. Read on this might be helpful.
What if I fall? What if i got tied up? What if the mechanism failed? This are just some horrible moments that we wish would not happen when we are doing some extreme activities. With this thinking your self confidence deteriorates until you’ll just say “I give up!”
How will you feel safe and secure in doing so?
- Be surrounded by supportive friends. Positive friends will pull you up, not push you down. A simple gesture of “you can do it” from a trusted friend can make you feel better.
- Read reviews. Make a background check first, read reviews from comments and/or people who have tried it. You can also ask some friends who have tried it. Read specially the positive ones by the way, your building confidence right?!
- Be pessimist. Just have fun! Think about happy moments, things that make you happy. Close your eyes, say a short prayer then jump!
- Be secured. We don’t want anything to happen, but sometimes unexpected things might happen, that is why we should be ready. You don’t want to be shock with your medical billings right? Try Pioneer Insurance.
Going Extreme with Pioneer Insurance
It was a long drive going to Cavite. I took a leave of absence at work just to accept the invitation by Pioneer Insurance and Fleishman Hillard. Our call time was too early (5am) but unfortunately we left manila a bit late. I was on the road with Ana, Paul, Earth, John, Ruth and some other bloggers, we also met the newly hired personnel from Fleishman – JC. Who we are making fun of along your trip to Cavite.
The poster posted on the group already is telling what kind of activities we are about to do at Campo Trexo, Cavite, so I wasn’t really expecting a chill event. I maybe feeling a bit under the weather because of my recent fitness activity at The Foundry, still that didn’t hinder me in trying everything! That’s the spirit!
We were grouped into 4 teams and I was part of the amazing Blue Team with Seph, Rey, Cristelle and Lou.
Our goal is to stay into the game, be on the top by doing all the semi-extreme activities prepared (without any casualties of course). Before starting the game, we were given a bag full of goodies! Here’s what’s inside it.

Cheering Competition
Unexpectedly (as if i really didn’t expect it), we started with a cheering competition. This has been, I think, the most challenging part for me, my mind wasn’t working for a moment, good thing Cristelle started to think of something to do. We were doing the basic cheering routine (the spell-out team name thing), 4 of us will represent the letters B-L-U-E, then the other one will be doing the command, enter Rodel. I just wanted to get over it (and the shameful scene in front). Good thing, our minds where processing at the end of the 15 minutes preparation. Unexpectedly winning the second place for team blue – 75 points for us! I think it was really Lou who made us win! hahaha! As what Lou says ‘Go Letter Blue!’
Rappelling & Wall Climbing
I’ve done a lot of wall climbing and rappelling already, but the heights sometimes still can give me a chill. I always have a conversation with Paul, whenever we are both in the position of doing this challenge, luckily, Paul never won over me yet! Peace Paul!
Remember this: Crazy Outdoor at Sandbox
The most difficult part in doing the rappel is at the start, where you will need to get all the energy and confidence to step at the edge, but once you’re in it, things would be easier. Going up and climbing the wall could be tiring especially if you’re already at the top. Good thing Kuya Noy (Yellow teams team leader) has been too generous to coach other bloggers who are having difficulty in climbing the wall. Just remember to climb “Like a Frog“! We came second with 75 points! Here’s a photo of me and sept.
Obstacle Course
This time our endurance, balance and agility will be tested. We were tasked to take this course and finish everything in 10 minutes. We decided to let Seph and I take the lead, followed by Cristelle and Lou and ending up with Rey. Rey would be the one to push Lou and Cristelle to finish the race. Each course that we weren’t able to finish, 5 points will be deducted. Lou weren’t able to finish the wire balance in time (the last obstacle) but still we finish strong with 95 points! Making us on the top of the game!
Trekking
A short trek were next passing a long (exciting) hanging bridge. The forest covers the height of it making it not too scary at all. We got an additional 25 point for finding our flag along the way.
High Ropes
For the last activity, we picked our best player to do the high ropes challenge. I do love to try this one, but I think Seph would be the best person to do this for the team.
On our way back, we got a chance to do the zip line. And in my eagerness to take shots using my Asus Selfie Phone, unfortunately here’s the only shot that I got! Pardon for the photo but this is a “buwis buhay shot!“
Unexpectedly, we were hailed winner for this game topping yellow team with only 25 points ahead. Yey! We took home Cherry Mobile 4 and S4 flare each. Thanks Cherry Mobile!
