It’s very seldom (or even not usual) to happen that a famous celebrity will cook a full meal for me. It could only happen if that particular celebrity is a very close friend of mine. But a few days ago, a situation like that happen. Erwan Heussaff might not know me in the personal level, but I was lucky enough to be invited over to try his cooking at Red Light.
What did he prepared? Continue reading.
Erwan Heussaff is not a chef, but his passion for cooking (and eating) makes him somewhat one. He said, he consider himself more of a restaurateur rather than a chef, thus owning a number of restaurant including Red Light which is the one I’ve visited recently.
The invitation, well didn’t really came from Erwan himself (feeling close LANG ako) but rather comes from Philips. Philips partnered with Erwan to showcase Philips Appliances’ capabilities and efficiency in the kitchen perfect for yuppies like me.
Red light is a small gastropub located in Felipe street in red district in Makati City. And this is were he’ll be cooking dishes for me (and for 10 more people).
The place was very simple with wooden chairs and tables, a small bar on the side, and indoor bar and a small kitchen. The kitchen was plain and I initially felt that it was lacking with necessary kitchen appliances. But I was wrong, Erwan manages to make it simple, effective and efficient just by picking the right appliances to use.
The dinner started with Burrata & Greens on Buttered toast, followed by Cold Cord Chowder poached shrimp salad, next was the Chorizo, Romesco Sauce, Grilled Fish Cake, Toasted Quinoa, then Chopped Hangersteak and capping up with Mango & Banana Turon.
This is truly something I need! But maybe I should learn how to cook first. Maybe Erwan would be too generous to invite me on a one on one cooking session next time. Haha! That would be amazing!
Here’s the last photo for all Erwan’s fans. More Photos here.
