I came to work yesterday, and because I’m working on the wee ours of the day, I and my tech assistant were the only people inside our booth. I was informed by the tech assistant that I was tasked to do a promo for the morning show. To my surprise I’ll be giving away two tickets for the Backstreet Boys Concert to one winner at the end of the program! (What!!!)
Backstreet Boys came back to the Philippines for their “In a World Like this Tour” that was held in SM MOA Arena, May 5, 2015. Brian, Nick, Howie, Kevin and Aj came here in Manila last Monday.
I was excited because I personally wanted to watch the concert, and I wasn’t told that I have a free ticket. So there I was giving away two tickets in my program. Damn! I asked my Tech a lot of times before boarding, confirming if I really needed to give away the tickets, but he was accurate about it. So I did hold the promo.
I was telling myself, maybe I can join in the promo or maybe I could ask a friend to join and make sure that my friend would win so I could be his or her plus 1. Nice idea!
So hours past and my Boss came in, it was 30 minutes before the program ends. He goes to the booth and told me, “did you get your ticket?“, I said,” What ticket po? the backstreet po?, My boss replied,”they havent texted you? you have two tickets, lower box for the BSB concert.” then I said “Ohh the one ive been giving away .. waaahhh i was told that it was for the promo!”
Oh well I couldn’t really get back the words I said. At the end of the show I’ve announced the winner and I went home.
I woke up around lunch time, and I’ve received a text message from my Boss telling me that they have managed to find extra tickets and they are for the Patron Seats! Nice!
Fast forward, I brought Ruth as my plus one for the concert, being too competitive at last nights promo. I didn’t really expect that there would be a lot of people lining up. The crowd were mostly, the 90’s kids of course.
BACKSTREET BOYS IN MANILA
The seat that were assigned for us were located at the farthest left side of the stage. We felt like we were part of the production crew or to put it positively, at least, we have a good view of the BSB’s onstage. It was okay, we were very near the stage (thou sets of speakers were obstructing our view). Nevertheless, (as what Ruth says) we’re not in the position to complain for having a free ticket, right?
Here’s my view
So the concert started, Brian, Nick, Howie, Kevin and Aj came out of the stage wearing their iconic coats which was used in the first set of the show.
I’m actually part of the tech people, Joke! hahaha! this was on our left side, My Crew!
Brian and Howie don’t seem to look old. Nick was very energetic (ang likot lang nya!) and feeling good on stage. AJ was the rock star while Kevin is slick as always.
Over the years we know that the boys can sing, dance and use their charms to make ladies scream out load! And I’ve heard that in this concert. I actually went home wanting silence all around me.
But aside from those talents, I didn’t know that most of them can also play the guitar, well Nick Carter actually did a lot of guitar scene at the concert. And it’s good!
Here’s a video of Nick Carter
Another revelation was Howie, saying that he has Filipino roots and he also mentioned that some of his relatives are watching the concert! Nice right!
More Photos!
Most of the songs we are caught singing and dancing into it, reminiscing the days when they were popularized. It’s been 20 years, they were the backstreet boys already when I was still a kid. And just nice to see the group perform in person!
I had fun! thank you Wish 107.5 & Ovation for the free tickets!
