I wasn’t really feeling well today, maybe because my body is already accustomed of sleeping in the morning. Our call time was at about 7:30am and it was already 7am when I woke up. I’ll be late. But still, with my aching tummy I did continue what I planned for today. Will be doing some construction work, and help families at Bistekville 1, Payatas, Quezon City though Habitat for Humanity. This would be fun!
Alden Richards Birthday Build
Along with other online champions, the day will be spent along with volunteers, habitat home partners, GMA artist center leaders with Habitat for Humanity’s newest ambassador, Alden Richards. (Manny Paquiao for Habitat for Humanity)
It’s his birthday celebration, and what best way to celebrate it is to give and share some to the needy.
After a short program, organized by GMA artist centre, It is now time for us to get our hands dirty (literally). After wearing our gears, we headed straight to the construction site. The task: to clear all the debris and transfer it to a new location, easy peasy.
The team today was a bit few which I am not expecting. We tried to line up and do a relay pass but it wasn’t successfully done because of man power shortage. So we decided to just do it manually, using some cut containers and carts to transfer all the debris to its new location.
I, Alden and Earth uses the carts while the rest transfers the debris using the containers.
The sun was strikingly hot; but the weather didn’t hinder us to finish what we have started. Here is where we transfer all the debris.
After a few to and from, we where called back again at the tent to take a rest.
While the workers/online champions are all resting, Alden Richards along with other talents from GMA artist center did a short program to make the people in Payatas happy in the morning.
A day well spent, Happy Birthday Alden! And thank you very much Habitat for Humanity for the opportunity for us to help.
