I have always been curious how call center offices operate. I still remember telling this to myself, that if I weren’t in what I’m doing currently, I might as well be one of these agents right now. Actually, early after my graduation, I did try to apply at a call center but unfortunately didn’t pass the qualifications needed. It was those years that the job wasn’t that popular yet compared today.
Recently I had a chance to visit and take a peek at what working in a call center feels like and luckily it was with the leading global company, TeleTech.
I know you’ve heard about it, TeleTech Holdings Inc. or shortly known as TeleTech is a global provider of analytics-driven, technology-enabled customer engagements solutions. The company offers an integrated platform that combines consulting technology, care and growth services to simplify and personalize interactions that build engagement between people and brands.
Okay, enough with the definition let’s move on to the great news.
TeleTech is continuously expanding and recently, they opened up its 17th site at Gateway Tower, Araneta Center, Quezon City. This means additional job opportunity for Filipinos! Great news isn’t it?
A Harmonious Place to Work with.
Along with other bloggers we were first accommodated at the pantry which I actually thought more of a big cafeteria for being so spacious. The area got a nice view of the MRT and LRT side, with tables and chairs lined up at the centre. It also has 5 (if I’m not mistaken) large flat screen TVs and an honest store on one side wherein they sell items without any person manning it.
We were oriented and given some facts about TeleTech. It was something new to me, for I haven’t really had a chance to work with such company. The facts given make me even more excited to know things about the company. According to the heads, TeleTech is considered to have the lowest level of attrition rate compared to other call centers. Meaning employees do stay for a long time for many reasons and with satisfaction!
We started to tour the whole floor located at the 15th of Gateway Tower. Walking through the corridor I actually felt like I was inside a hotel. We first visited the production area where all the action happens. And because TeleTech here in Cubao currently serves on a graveyard shift, employees were off on the time we visited. It was clean and simple, chairs and tables are positioned in diagonal with a higher table and chairs at the far end allocated for each team leader. Each table is minimally designed with only a few things atop. The bonus here is that workers would have a great view of the mountains of Rizal and the cityscape of Marikina and Quezon City. Looking at the glass window I actually felt like I was in the hilly side of Hong Kong.
TeleTech is very keen with the health of their people especially with the kind of schedule they have, thus the clinic is one of the busy places in the whole vicinity.
The company also has an allocated meeting room with most advance facilities used for tele-conferencing and such.
They have rooms for training newly hired employees, a guest room where guest can stay while you work, and a Lactating room for breastfeeding women.
Also we visited one of the best places I could say in this new site (aside from the pantry)-the ‘Quiet room’, which has double deck beds where employees can take rest on their breaks.
I was curious to know if they are still strict with accent especially with the newly hired employees. I was told that it was just as simple as how we acted: Filipinos like to talk to Filipinos and Australians would love to talk to Australians. Having an accent to talk to customer would be an advantage though mostly used by managers and team leaders for irate calls.
The tour ended up with a simple lunch prepared by the team. TeleTech Araneta is currently hiring at least 100 new employees to fill customer service and business support roles. New hires will join pioneer programs, gain access to TeleTech’s comprehensive pay and benefit package and immerse in a corporate culture invested in personal development. New hires this season can qualify to win Php 100,00 worth of prizes from Abenson’s Appliances, if hired by December 31.
If your thinking this could be the right job for you, grab the opportunity and grow together with this great company, TeleTech.
