Mahalo! Before the grand opening day of the first ever Teddy’s Bigger Burger here in the Philippines, we had a chance try it first and taste their popular burgers.
Set to open in Makati on August 23, the debut brand marks the first international franchise of the SumoBurger Global Inc., whose restaurants include Sumo Sam and Akira, among others. The group is owned by the trio of actor-businessman Marvin Agustin, Raymund Magdaluyo and Ricky Laudico, who admittedly came across the burger house rather” serendipitously”
Teddy’s Bigger Burgers on the other hand marked it’s 2nd international branch here, following Japan. Since its inception in 1998, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers has opened in 11 locations in Hawaii, and recently on US mainland and Iowa, with stores soon to open in California and Texas. Originally owned by Ted Tsakiris and Rich Stula, Teddy’s Bigger Burger just started in the backyard cookouts of Hawaii.
What Teddy’s Bigger Burger brag about is its pure meat patties. Made from 100% corn-fed U.S. Angus ground chuck, shipped regularly from the US from the same supplier of Teddy’s Hawaii. With no binders or fillers. Handmade pattied daily with special seasoning of Ted and Rich, and always charbroiled to order.
Bigger sizes also set Teddy’s apart, with Big (5 oz) , Bigger (7oz) and Biggest (9oz) for the original single patties, and much bigger servings for Monster Doubles.
According to Ted, having a good quality patty makes their customers come back for more. And I say yes to that! Heres my Waikiki Burger Serve hot!
All sandwiches come with crisp lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions, but diners have the option to customise their burgers with a variety of toppings, including bacon, blue cheese, jalapeños , onion rings, and pastrami, among others.
And because all burgers are made to order, customers can also opt to reduce or remove seasoning and use lettuce instead of bread as buns.
By the way, Teddy’s Bigger Burger uses potato bun which is soft and delicate in texture, with a slightly sweet note that brings out the savoury, smoky flavour of the burger.
Aside from burgers, you can also enjoy the crispy fries and tots with a variety of sauces (cheese and garlic butter) and beer-battered onion rings.
Teddy’s is also known for super thick milk shakes, in flavours such as chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, peanut butter, root beer, dreamsicle or pineapple. I tried peanut butter milkshakes that tasted like melted Snickers!
Teddy’s is set to open in the Philippines on August 23 at the 3rd level , Greenbelt 3, Makati City. And to celebrate its Philippine debut, Teddy will treat its first 100 customers with free Teddys’ Original burgers and prizes for early birds.
How much do you need to try Teddy’s Burger?
I ordered 5oz Waikiki Burger that costs Php 365 plus a small size milkshake that costs Php 150. And because I added some customization to my burger my total dining costs resulted to Php 702.90. If your visiting and would want to bring a date carrying at least Php 2,000 would be safe enough.
