Changing how live comedy is known here in the Philippines, 2011 Emmy-nominated actor Rob Schneider, well known for his funny antics on the big screen and for his stand-up comedy routines on shows like Saturday Night Live, visited Manila for the first time last October.
This one-night performance in Manila is organized by Solaire Resorts and Travelife Magazine, in cooperation with Establish Events.
I was one of the lucky bloggers to be invited in this very hilarious event, so as I came at the venue for the press-con I see to it that I could be seated near Rob Schneider.
Thou I didn’t get the chance to have a personal photo with him (Fan mode) I’m still happy to have a Gold ticket for the evening event where Rob along with other local stand-up comediennes will be on stage at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort and Casino to showcase their wits and talents in making other people laugh.
This half Filipino is truly attached to his Filipino roots, thanks for his mom who has been very supportive on Rob’s works. This can even be seen in some of Rob’s jokes.
Rob Scheider is well known for his longtime relationship with Adam Sandler and Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison. Schneider has starred in several Happy Madison projects, including Bedtime Stories, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, The Benchwarmenrs, 50 First Dates, The Longest Yar, Eight Crazy Nights, Little Nicky and Mr. Deeds. Also for Happy Madison, Schneider co-wrote and starred in Deuce Bigalow:European Gogolo, Deuce Bigolow: Male Gigolo, The Hot Chick and The Animal. Other film credits include Shark bait, the Waterboy and Big Daddy.
Thanks to Solaire Resorts and Casino for the Invite as well as to Travelife for bringing Rob Schneider here in the Philippines. I hope this marks an avenue for Filipino Stand up comediennes to be acknowledged and be accepted in a wider reach.
