✪ The gloomy and dark skies didn’t hinder us (the Bloggers) to wave the hustle and bustle of the busy streets of Manila. Coming from different parts of the city, we wave the streets just to expirience a night of masquerade ball at the Manila Hotel.
It was around three in the afternoon when I finished my work and hurriedly packed my things up, trying to be early as possible to check in at one of the most extravagant hotel in the Philippines – The Manila Hotel.
Located at the heart of Manila, near Luneta park, is the historic five-star hotel located along Manila Bay in Manila, Philippines. Manila Hotel is the oldest premiere hotel in the Philippines built in 1909 to rival Malacañang Palace, and was opened on the commemoration of American Independence on July 4, 1912. Manila hotel has been famous welcoming different famous personalities like Michael Jackson and The Beatles; U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Prime Minister Sir Anthony Eden, and other world leaders.
And for the first time, I (along with other bloggers) could also be a part of the history! When I arrived at the hotel at around 4, I tried to take a rest and sleep but feeling a bit hesitant that I might overslept and would missed to be on time for the event. An hour before the event, I prepared, socks on, shirt, coat and the red bow tie. I’m ready to rock the dance floor.

Everybody was so dapper on the evening in Red. We were so excited to see ourselves being so elegant and slick just for a night. We are ready to go down and party all night!

“Dancing at the Maynila” opened to VIPs, hotel patrons, and dancing enthusiasts, signalling the start of a series of ballroom dancing events to be held at the iconic Maynila Ballroom of the Manila Hotel. Only the Maynila Ballroom can bring back the turn-of-the-century glamour that sets the stage for the art that is ballroom. It is the only multi-levelled ballroom in the country that offers an ambiance of sophistication from its imposing staircase, hand-painted ceiling and massive capiz shell chandelier framed gracefully by an Arabesque canopy to its five-meter high hand-carved narra arches, multi-colored Tiffany bay windows and indoor water fountains.
We were assisted by Ms. Christine Ibaretta and Khiristine Facto from Manila Hotel as we entered the Maynila Ballroom. The bloggers were given two reserve tables with free flowing drinks and a platter of delicious treats. It was an extravagant feeling entering the room full of beautiful lights, chandeliers, huge dance floor, bands, and even water fountain plus the old sound of ballroom music taking you back to the glory days of the past.
The dance floor is a bit crowded and most of the attendees were in their senior years. The evening was perfect specially to some who have partners alongside, but for individuals who are into strutting there dance moves, don’t you worry, dance instructors both male and female are available as well in the venue.
I had the chance to dance with a young female dance instructor, I was a bit hesitant at first or maybe throughout the whole dance routine, because I wasn’t really at ease of dancing with someone I don’t know, but nevertheless It was an experience worth to try.

What a night! It actually felt like a High School prom set in a different crowd. Thanks to Manila Hotel for making us dapper even for a night. Thank you also to Ms. Christine Ibaretta and Khiristine Facto, it was a great experience!
