✪ It was my first time to host a sports program and definitely a first as well doing a basketball commentary. I was exicited when I was asked to do it but also afraid that my little knowledge about basketball will not be a big help accomplishing the days tasked. Nevertheless, the new experiences and learnings from doing it is all worth it!
UNTV Cup is a basketball tournament for a cause concept of Mr. Public Service Kuya Daniel Razon in which each participating team will represent a charity institution or project to where the tourney’s prize will proceed. You may read my other articles about UNTV Cup click here and here.

It was so nice to meet and co-host with one of the legends in Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), the “Defense Minister” himself Coach Jerry Codiñera. Standing at Six Feet Five inches tall, my partner Rheena and I may seem to be like dwarves on his side. ヅ Coach Jerry serves as the main commentator and analyser for each game.

Rheena Villamor on the other hand also had her first doing a studio hosting job for UNTV Cup. A long time basketball courtside announcer, hosting the said program has been her first time to do a studio stint. With her long credentials, technical terms and the process on how the game is played is just an easy tasked for her. Aside from basketball, Rheena has also been a courtside announcer for Shakey’s Volleyball tournament and Philippine Poker Games.
As I remember the last time I played basketball was 10 years ago. I wasnt really a good player and not really a fanatic of NBA or PBA games. But it excites me always to witness the last 2-minutes of a basketball game. Doing the hosting stint, I’ve learned that basketball is really quite a tricky game of offense and defence. Understanding it and making a commentary of the play would really take some time and a long process of learning the terms and how a game is being played. Aside from that getting to know each of the players background would be also an essential tool for you to understand how each player played inside the court.
Well I guess I did a bit alright in my side of court (studio).
