Signals Define

Mobile phones has made a big contribution in our lifestyle today. The accesibility makes this item even worth taking everywhere by the user. It became a necessity as well specially for people who are seeking for a more convinient and faster information delivery. But learning the nitty-gritty of this device to fully manipulate its full functionality could be somehow a pain in the ass specially if your using an advance smartphones where many short keys and abbreviations should be kept it mind to properly use a device.

One of the things that doesn’t really bothers me before was the letters G, E, 3G, H and H+ usually found at the upper part of your mobile phones. It was something to me like, “Yeah I know its the internet signal connection”. But what does it signify or how can you use it on your advantage. When I found myself addicted in downloading movies, music or other large files using my mobile phone (currently using Globe), I was kinda disappointed whenever I would repeatedly download the file just because the connection was cut due to a very low internet connection. Then came the idea that maybe the following letters should be notice specially when checking where should I do my downloading. So I search over the net and found at these variables;

G is gprs 86kbps
E is EDGE 236kbps
3G is UMTS 386kbps
H is HSDPA 3.2Mbps
H+ is HSPA 7.2Mbps
H+ is too for HSPA+ for 14.4Mbps or 21.1Mbps

Some phones doesnt show H or H+ , they just show 3G for UMTS, HSDPA, HSPA, HSPA+. Only G or E means its on 2G, your not in 3G coverage. I actually thought before that E stands for Error that whenever the signals turns to E, I need to restart or need to go out of the house to find that signal (dumbo!). I also thought the E is the lowest data rate.

Knowing your net connection signals would be very useful specially if your a person who are always online and like me, loves downloading series or movies over my phone. Signals varies depending on your location, so maybe you should take note of the places where you have an H+ signals. So that whenever your in a hurry of downloading you know where to go!
