Before the year 2012 ends, I’d make sure to visit one of the most accessible theme parks in Manila, Star City. Ideally located at the heart of Manila, it’s one of the best place to enjoy a weekend with family and friends specially if you are looking for a fun filled and thrilling adventure.

Aside from Star City’s perfect location, here are some other reason’s why I love to visit this place over and over again:
- Easy access
- Affordable rates
- Rides are innovated yearly
- There is a new ride I need to try – STAR FLYER
Though the place is a bit small in terms of area, the management of Star City have made a way to fit in all the rides it can accommodate. If you’ve been there a few years ago and revisited it again, you’ll discover new rides at the place, Star City management always keeps something new and exciting to look up to. Just recently Star City brought to us its newest ride which includes the tallest Ferris Wheel in the Philippines – Giant Wheel, the Star Flyer and the thrilling Star Frisbee Ride.
On my visit, I did try some of the new rides except for the Star Frisbee which I think will make me very dizzy after riding, so I decided not to try it.
The Giant Wheel, the newest attraction of the Star City amusement park in Pasay City with a height of 62.5 meters (205 feet) or is equivalent to 20 story building, is said to be the highest ferris wheel in the country. The Giant wheel has 32 air-conditioned gondolas, each able to seat up to six people. One revolution is equivalent to 8 minutes.
Next on our list is the Surf Dance, according to Star City, this is first and only of its kind in the Philippines, the gondola ride is about the height of a five storey building that swings the 44 seat ride upwards, downwards and sideways.
The next ride really excites me, the Star Flyer, I hesitated at first, but with some encouragement with a mix of teasing of my friends, I held my self up and got the strength to try it. And it was definitely one of the best ride ever!
After almost less than 2 minutes ride, I said to myself, if only the line would have been a bit shorter, and I have enough time, I’ll try to ride the Star Flyer over and over again.

Last attraction we visited was definitely my favorite paid attraction in Star City. To enter Snow World you’ll have to pay extra Php130 but has a discounted price of Php90 if you purchase the ride-all-you-can ticket. It’s 15-degrees-below-zero and the place allow visitors to experience real snow and counter the tropical weather. It has ice carvings as well that originated in Paete, Rizal.
Trivia: Did you know that Star City was originally a Gift and toy fair and is popular in the early 90’s as Phil-Site. For my year-end visit at Star City, I could say that the Star Flyer is a must try, and the Snow World is a must visit
