Malolos, Bulacan – Early Saturday morning, my blogger friends and me flew to Bulacan just to visit this talk of the town ice cream restaurant that is making a buzz within the province and near areas of Bulacan.

Hernz Ice Cream Specialties

Hi’s (pronounce as Ha-ys) or Hernz Ice Cream Specialties is an ice cream house and restaurant in one. Hernz is owned and operated by a Filipino couple that is a native of Bulacan. They came from the clan of Hernandez-Cruz, thus the name HERNZ originated, who has been in the Ice Cream Industry for more than Fifty Years. They were also used to be part and manufacturer of Milko Ice Cream.

Few days ago, I receive a phone call from one the staff of the restaurant, and luckily I was given a privilege to be their guest and taste some of their specialties.

I woke up very early and planned to have an empty stomach upon arriving to the restaurant. I met the couple Datgirl and William of www.idatgirl.com at the Trinoma station.

If your living within Quezon area going to the place would be just easy taking the North Luzon Expressway or NLEX, and riding utility vehicle coming from Cubao or Trinoma Stations.

Hi’s is located in McArthur Hi-way, Tikay, Malolos City. Just after the Arc of Malolos, before Tikay elementary School. It’s easy to locate having been place along the high way and with a big signage outside the shop.

Upon entering the restaurant we were approached by the Restaurant Manager Mr. Edjieth Cajucom, he’s sister Ms. April Cruz-Trinidad who invited us wasn’t able to be there on that time.

The store was very cozy and appealing, simple yet something new for the provincial market.

Aside from the air-conditioned area, there is also a veranda for customers preferences.

We choose to sit at the right most corner of the store where we can actually see everybody and still feel comfortable in the sofa. Feelings like we are just dining with friends at home.

Our hungry stomach is now ready to take in some fuel; Hi’s special house Berry tea was first served to quench our thirst from the long trip.

Clam Chowder Soup

Next was the Clam Chowder soup for P68 per serving, this is one of my favorite, its tasty and you could actually taste the clams in the soup.

For our main course, Crispy kare-kare was served. It was a big serving that could accommodate from 3 up to 5 persons. The servings cost is P528.

Next we were given a chance to taste some of their pasta specialties, Baked Spaghetti which cost P128 per serving.

And Carbonara for P158 per serving

They served all of their bestsellers and we love it! Other two friend bloggers came, Mitchie and Katrina. When they arrive we are on our way to dessert.

First in the line was the dessert so called Sikreto ni Ambo, P108 per serving, it was named after their grandfather, It’s a combination of mango and langka in Turon style with Ice cream on the side. It’s a Hot and Cold Dessert, and it’s a perfect match! It tasted so good that I did finish the whole plate and just sharing a little to my fellow bloggers. Haha!

The Blazing Kisses presentation caught our attention; the Ramen Rasin Ice Cream covered with icing was burnt with rum. It’s like a volcano eruption but with hot outer cover and a cold ice cream inside. It’s cost P188 per serving.

This one looks like a mini-Mt. Everest hehehe

Last was the Buko Lychee Sherbet which costs P68 per serving.

Before we went home, we were also given a take home Hernz Ice Cream Novelty, Classic Crunch that affordably costs P15 per stick. Perfect for take away and eaten under the hot weather.

Hi’s or Hernz Ice Cream Specialities targets families, friends and students in the near area (CEU Bulacan and BSU). Prepare at least a minimum of P100 to P200 per dining; bring extra bucks to satisfy your cravings. They also serve ala-carte meals for those of you who have tight budget plus it’s a Wi-fi zone, so your dining experience could be instantly shared to the net world.

Expect more to come and more food surprises in their dining table and I’ve heard that fellow Manileno’s will not going to have the difficulty of going to their Malolos branch because they are coming in the metro really soon.
