Bai Hotel Cebu is one of the newest hotel located in Mandaue City
Whenever I would visit Cebu, I always have two options in mind on where to stay, either be in the main city, Cebu City where the central business is located or be housed near the beaches in Lapu Lapu City. Staying in the other nearby places didn’t come into my mind, not until I tried it once.
I reside for almost two days in Mandaue City and stayed in this new hotel named as Bai Hotel.
The basic amenities, the facilities and things to do nearby Bai Hotel are what I would like to share to you today. Continue reading will tell you more about it.
Estimated 14-minutes drive away from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Bai Hotel Cebu is strategically located between Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City. Its location makes it easier for anyone to visit the top destinations on both areas. Deciding to stay within Mandaue isn’t that bad at all, you can even spend your day inside the hotel or just around the area. It wouldn’t be a problem for there are just enough spots to check out nearby.
Alone skyscraper in the Mandaue city area, Bai Hotel got 668 guestrooms and 8 restaurants that stylishly designed in contemporary hues. It evokes an ambiance of modern luxury and spaciousness secured with a world-class access control system.
I was able to stay here for almost two days and tried the different amenities they offer. It was noticeable that most of their clientele here were Koreans who were either doing business or travel. I guess the increasing number of Koreans and foreigners within the city makes it as a good target market. Hence, Bai Hotel made sure that your stay in this hotel is comparable to how it feels in the international market.
My room in the 8th floor was a Deluxe Suites with twin bed. I shared it with a new travel blogger friend Kenneth Surat. And because of the hotels’ unique architecture, the window view on our side didn’t really give us a nice view of the city. Nevertheless, the sun rays passing through it was enough for me to enjoy.
The Room
Bai Hotel Cebu got a wide range of accommodation options starting from the basic deluxe to presidential. The Deluxe Twin bed we got is large enough for two people (The truth is we can still squeeze in 1-2 more persons in the room we had and it will still feel okay). All rooms are equipped with chiller, electronic safe and electric iron with ironing board. Our room also got the usual toiletry set, complimentary water, coffee and tea, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and even an emergency kit. Booking a room will give you a complimentary daily Wi-Fi, buffet breakfast for two and access to other hotel amenities.
The Executive Suites, on the other hand, starts at the 19th floor and up. Booking an Executive Suites will give you an exclusive access to different VIP areas like the executive lounge where you can enjoy buffet breakfast, high tea or dinner away from the crowd and with a better view of the harbor or the city.
An Executive room per night costs around Php 6,500 and up.
Hotel Amenities
I always consider staying in a fancy hotel as a worthwhile experience. Meaning, even if I do not go out it would be just fine. Bai Hotel is like a combination of both leisure and business and staying here is made even better with the different amenities you can try.
Most of the amenities area located from the 5th floor down. They got a gym, spa, and a business center as well. On the top floor up to the roof, the Pool bar, Twilight Roofdeck Lounge + Bar, as well as the Executive Club Lounge, is located.
At the second floor, the huge and famous Cafe Bai can be found. The buffet is said to be a favorite by not just the hotel guest but as well as the locals in Cebu for its famous buffet food line up for a very affordable introductory price of Php 599 (Weekday Rate)/ Php 699 (Weekend/Holiday Rate).
Here are some of the facilities you can use at Bai Hotel Cebu.

Things to do around Bai Hotel Cebu in Mandaue City
Staying inside the hotel is already worth it but going around would definitely be a good idea. Here are some of the places and/or establishments nearby that you can check out.
Park Mall Cebu
Just across the street, you’ll find a park that is also a mall, hence called Parkmall. The two-level mall was a formerly abandoned warehouse and is now covered with nice landscapes, dining areas, food markets and more. Parkmall is a perfect destination for families and group of friends where you can just stroll, hang out, do some fitness activities, watch different festivals or even eat the famous Cebu Lechon.
Cebu Lechon Belly
Your trip in Cebu wouldn’t be complete if you haven’t tasted its famous Cebu Lechon. One of the best place to have it is at the famous Cebu Original Lechon Belly (COLB) restaurant. COLB is famous for its boneless Lechon belly that is innovated and uniquely prepared. They have this process of deboning only the whole pork belly of the pig, spicing it up with special ingredients then slow-roasting it out with open-charcoal fire. I was able to taste both the original and the spicy Cebu Lechon. I love the spicy flavored Lechon which is perfect with specially prepared vinegar and a hot cup of rice. Truly enjoying my dinner at COLB I realize I already ate 4 cups of rice. Goodbye diet!
Oqtagon
Our host, Bai Hotel General Manager Mr. Alfred Reyes, told us that the nightlife in Mandaue City is really different compared to other places here in Cebu. I didn’t seem to agree at first, especially that I am not really fond of bars and disco places. But he insisted that we should at least visit and check it out. We went to this new place called Oqtagon which is located inside Meerea High Street, which is just a kilometer away from the hotel . Just like what I’ve noticed in our area, this place was populated by Koreans. Like the whole dance floor was all foreigners that it made me feel like I wasn’t in the Philippines. I guess that makes it different from the rest and aside from that you can tell that the guess we’re all just enjoying and having fun. Oqtagon plays up to date electro-pop music that most of the guest truly enjoy.
Ume Japanese Restaurant
Definitely, something to try on especially those who love Japanese cuisine. Ume Japanese Restaurant is located just within the vicinity of Bai Hotel and is serving an authentic line-up of Japanese dishes (The Japanese chef could attest to that). This very intimate restaurant is perfect for those who are looking for a quiet place to do a meeting while dining.
Grains and Marbles Steakhouse
If you are not in the mood to do Japanese, how about some unlimited steak? Yup, you read that right! Just beside Ume Japanese Restaurant, you will find Grains and Marbles Steakhouse. They are offering unli-steak with buffet style salads and sidings for only Php 999 (intro price).
Wallstreet Café
Wallstreet Cafe is another restaurant that is just across Ume and Grains & Marbles. A 24-hour coffee shop that is actually more affordable than other famous coffee shop brands. No wonder, students and even late crawlers love staying here at Wallstreet Cafe.
Final Verdict
For a new hotel in Cebu, I could already say that Bai Hotel Cebu in Mandaue City can already compete for head to head with other hotels nearby. The location was good enough for it is just near the airport so traveling to and fro would be easy. It is also just a stone throw away from a mall and some entertainment spots with a great view of both harbor and the city. If you decided to go around, they have shuttle services scheduled going to key points in the town.
Bai Hotel also made it possible to put up stores and amenities that could supplement the need of their clients that would make them just stay and enjoy a day or two inside the hotel. It may not yet 100% finish, but I can already feel that it could be much better once the other amenities have started the operation.
