13 Photos that will make you travel 13 hours away from Manila

They say your visit in Ilocos Norte wouldn’t be complete without seeing the iconic Bangui Wind Farm. And I do agree! It was the last day of our travel when we finally said to ourselves; “We need to pay an extra P500 (for the tricycle services) just to do the Southbound Tour”, that includes Burgos and Bangui via Pagudpud. And it wasn’t a bad decision at all. After all, travelling to Pagudpud for 13 hours via bus is already a sacrifice we made and it would be a lost to miss the most exciting part.

It was a 30-minute travel coming from Pagudpud to Bangui, and the Windmill view at far is already satisfying. Bangui Wind Mills or Bangui Wind Farm is composed of  20 units of 70-meters (230 ft) high Vestas V82 1.65 MW wind turbines and are arranged on a single row stretching along a nine-kilometer shoreline off Bangui bay, facing the West Philippine Sea.

Imagine a big pole with winding blades as high as the 18-floorRamon Magsaysay Center or as long as the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft “NASA 905”, that’s huge men!

The installation of the wind turbines did a great help in distributing wind-powered electricity in the Northern Part of the Philippines. As I’d know, there are other Wind Farm installations in other parts of the Philippines like in Rizal and also in Puerto Galera. But Bangui Wind Farm became more popular maybe because it was installed first and became an iconic tourist destination in Ilocos Norte.

Do you remember Jack in my Puerto Galera trip, the guy we met in Puerto Nirvana? He is an Engineer who specializes in Wind Mills installation. When we first met him, he was telling us about finding a nice place to install the Wind Turbines in Puerto Galera. Good thing I remember that! Check out he video and try to spot him!

Each minute we came closer at the bay makes me more excited. And I was astonished, the time we arrived at the place. I didn’t realize it was that big. And there was this idea in my head; what if these big blades suddenly fall onto me while I was wandering in the beach. My mind was a bit crazy isn’t it?

Asking me if it’s really windy? Well sure is, engineers wouldn’t put it in this area if the place wasn’t windy enough. Right? And guess what, the view was already awesome in photos what more if you can see it in person.

Here are some shots I took.
