Freezing home made ice cream using Liquid Nitrogen, how clever is that?! Well, chemistry could  been one of my favorite subjects in high school but this idea didn’t even pop to my head.

Winter Garden Nitrogen Dessert, through the owner, cousins Danilo Vitan and Cecile Perez, perfected the craft, introducing to the public a one of a kind presentation that would trigger once curiosity specially those who loves Ice cream. Here’s my paparazzi shot of the owners!

Winter Garden Nitrogen Dessert is your newest desserts place located along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City (it’s actually just behind Sango and Ersao near Jolibbe and National Bookstore). Opening last September 2014, It is the first nitrogen ice cream shop to open in Katipunan area. It came from the concept of Kasahana which is a meteorological phenomenon where snow is falling on a clear blue sky. This doesn’t happen everywhere and only happens in a a remote place where conditions are right for the phenomenon to occur.

Inspired to that phenomenon, Winter Garden emulates the beauty and romance of snowflakes glittering in the sun as Kazahana happens.

Now lets talk about the desserts place.

Located in a somehow secluded area, the place could be a bit hard to be seen. This have cons and pros I could say, being secluded could attract more visitors who love hanging out to places that are hidden and is not crowded, with the right marketing and introduction to people this could be achieved. The con; well foot traffic could be limited and an extra effort to do flyering and/or bannering is highly needed.

I ordered a scoop of Nociolla which has Nuttella as its main ingredient. As what I said awhile ago, they are creating the Ice cream as you order, so you can actually watch the whole process of mixing and putting in ingredients to your lovely ice cream.

And right after the whole process, here comes Chemistry. Using Liquid Nitrogen, it will be poured into the mixture which then creates a rapid freezing process (-321 F) reducing the size of ice crystals, creating a smoother and creamier ice cream. By the way the process is called flash freezing.

For groups, the “Picnic Trays” could be perfect, enjoy puffing by dipping your choice of sweets in the liquid nitrogen for 10 seconds, let it dry, put it in your mouth and puff it like a dragon. I actually got a video on my IG account check it out here.
