A village where the sky meets the ground, this is just how I see Ngong Ping Village in Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Occupying 15, 000 square meter site, Ngong Ping Village, mirrors the cultural and spiritual veracity of Ngong Ping Area.
Inside the Cable Car Ride
But before reaching this magnificent place, there are equally exciting things you could do, for one is the Ngong Ping Cable Car. Ngong Ping Village and Ngong Ping Cable Car is what makes Ngong Ping 360 (NP 360) a must visit destination place in Hong Kong. NP 360 is a tourism project located on Lantau Island.
Why 360?
Hanging in the sky, with a highest peak reaching to 560 meters, the 25-minute journey riding the Ngong Ping Cable Car is definitely an experience to consider. Inside you can actually see the Ngong Ping Plateau in 360-degree views.
With Bread n’ Butter co-host Kitt Meily and Arlene Razon
The cable car journey is a long 5.7km, traveling between Tung Chung Town Center and Ngong Ping on Lantau Island. Visitors will enjoy some of the best panoramic views during their 25 minute ride like the Hong kong International Airport, South China Sea, the Tian Tan Buddha Statue, as well as the flora and fauna of the North Lantau Country Park.
(Rodel) Now who’s going to buy the tickets???
Enjoying this trip would be best if your travelling along with friends and/or family. With me, in this trip, are my co-host for the program Bread n’ Butter (UNTV37) and the whole staff of the program.
You can just trek and follow the trail.
The Crystal Cabin
The cable car is just one of the choices you can make to reach the village, another one would be a bus ride or if you’re a bit adventurous, you can do trekking and follow the trail. But the cable car is definitely a must try.
You can pick a Standard, Crystal or a Private Cabin. The best one to try would be the Crystal cabin, which we did. Stepping on a crystal clear glass you’ll definitely feel like floating riding this one. But this would be a killer for people who have fear with heights, but would be nice if you conquer it. The round trip for the Crystal Cabin is worth 240 HK$ per head, converted to peso, that would be around Php 1,302.
Here are some pictures of our Cable Car trip!
The Ngong Ping Village
Situated at the end of the ride is the Ngong Ping Village, which is a themed village with retail and entertainment center adjacent to the cable cars upper station. Here you can also check out a small souvenir shops and a photo-booth area where you can avail some of the shots taken from your travel using the gondola ride.
The Ngong Ping Village contains an assortment of shopping and dining experiences, on top of a number of key attractions including Walking with Buddha, the Monkey’s Tale Theatre and the Ngong Ping Tea House.
268 steps up
If you’re planning to visit Ngong Ping Village, better at least have a half or a whole day here. Prepare yourself for the long walks. Avoid wearing hi-hills or uncomfortable shoes, and don’t forget to bring your camera, there’s a lot of great locations to shoot here.
At the end of the village, there’s also a gallery of the previous Cabin’s used by Ngong Ping. By the way, it is best to visit the place later in the afternoon, for you to actually feel the breeze on the mountaintop.
You can off to travel via cable car going back to the main station, but the cable car is more fun!
Ngong Ping 360 is currently included as one of the “Ten Engineering Wonders in Hong Kong“. To know more about this destination place visit their website np360.com.hk
